Once upon a time. There was a great sultanate named Nuristan, amidst the remote mountains and rivers. The king of this Sultanate was very powerful. His name was Badshah Jalaluddin. It had countless armies. The treasuries were full of gold and silver and its rule extended far and wide. But there was a strange thing. Despite so much power and wealth, there was a strange restlessness in the king's heart. At night, when the entire palace fell silent and the sound of the guards' footsteps echoed, King Jalaluddin would stand near his window and gaze at the sky. He kept wondering what is the real purpose of life? One night the moon was fully shining in the sky. The king was walking in his room. Suddenly three strange questions arose in his mind. Questions that were going to change his entire life. Badshah said to himself, "If I can find the answers to these three questions, I may never make a wrong decision." Those were the three questions. What is the most important time ? Who is the most important person? What is the most important work? The king thought that if I get answers to these questions then I can make my kingdom the best kingdom in the world. The next morning, as soon as the sun rose, the king ordered the court to be held. The announcement was made throughout the country. The person who answers the king's three questions correctly will be given a thousand gold coins and special respect from the king. This news spread to forests, cities and villages. Ulama, hakims, philosophers, soldiers, traders all left for the king's palace. Hundreds of people were gathered in the court. The king was sitting on his golden throne. He said, "I will ask you all three questions." The person who gives the correct answer will get a big reward. Then he repeated his questions in a louder voice. The entire court became silent. Everyone started thinking. First of all a great scholar came forward. He said Your Majesty, the most important time is the future. Because we should always prepare for the future. The king nodded but was not satisfied. Then a minister came forward. He said the most important person is the king himself. Because the fate of the entire community changes with the decisions of the king. The king shook his head again but his heart did not find peace. Then a Sipahi Salar stepped forward. He said, "The most important thing is to win the war. If the Sultanate is strong, everything is fine." Some people in the court clapped, but the wrinkles on the king's forehead increased. Because every person's answer was different. Some say the most important time is tomorrow. Some say the most important person is a friend. Some say the most important thing is worship. Some say the most important thing is to earn wealth. But the king did not like any of the answers. " None of you could answer my questions properly, " he said angrily. The court became silent. The king was very worried. At this very moment an old minister slowly came forward. He bowed and said, "Your Majesty, if you really want answers to these questions, you must go to a dervish who lives in the mountains." The king asked in surprise, "Which dervish?" The minister said he is an old man. He neither comes to the court of kings nor meets anyone. But people say he's very picky. The king took the decision immediately. I will go to this dervish myself. But he decided to keep this journey secret. The next morning he left the palace wearing ordinary clothes. Only one loyal soldier was with him. He sat on the horse and left for the dense forests and mountains. After travelling for several hours, he reached a small hilly valley. There was a hut there. An old dervish was digging the ground in front of the hut. He looked very weak. His hands were trembling. The king went to him and said, Baba Ji, I have come to ask you three questions. But the dervish did not give any answer. He continued digging the ground silently. The king said again, "Baba Ji, my question is very important." But the dervish remained silent. The king saw that the dervish was very tired. He said, Baba Ji, you take rest. I will do the digging. The dervish silently handed the spade to the king. The king started digging the ground. Hours passed. But the dervish has not yet given any answer. The sun started setting. The king sat down tired. He said Babaji, if you don't want to answer my questions, I'll go back. At that moment, a man suddenly came running out of the bushes. He was badly injured. Blood was flowing from his stomach. He staggered towards the dervish and fell on the ground. The king and the dervish were astonished. The king immediately ran to him. He saw that the wound was very deep. If he was not treated immediately, he could have died. The king quickly tore a cloth and tied it on the wound. Then he picked up the injured man and laid him inside the hut. It was late night. The king kept taking care of the man the whole night. And he had no idea that this injured man was actually his enemy and if he died, the king's life would change forever. But the king had no idea about this, nor did he know that the answers to his three questions were going to be found this very night. The night had grown very dark. Only the sounds of crickets were coming from inside the forest. Stars were shining in the sky and a small lamp was burning in the dervish's small hut. King Jalaluddin stayed awake all night. He repeatedly bandaged the injured man's wounds, gave him water, and took care of him. Many times he thought, I am a king and today I am serving a stranger. But then a strange peace would arise in his heart. After some time the injured man slowly opened his eyes. He said in a weak voice, water. The king immediately got up and gave him water to drink. When the man regained consciousness, tears came to his eyes. He said softly. Please forgive me. The king was surprised. He said, "Why should I forgive you? What have you done?" The wounded man took a deep breath and said, "You probably do n't recognize me. But I know you." The king missed. How do you know me? The man said in a trembling voice, "Aa you are King Jalaluddin." The king's eyes widened in surprise. How did you know? The man replied, "I am your enemy." Hearing this, the king became silent for a few moments. He asked softly, "My enemy?" The man nodded. "Yes, I came to take revenge on you. " Hearing this, the dervish also started looking at them silently. The injured man began to tell his story. A few years ago your soldiers murdered my brother. He was innocent. But during the war he was mistaken for an enemy and killed. Tears started flowing from his eyes. That day I swore that I would take revenge on you. The king kept listening silently. The man further said, when I came to know that you were going to meet that dervish, I thought this is the opportunity. I hid in the bushes so that I could kill you. The king's heart started beating faster. The man said, "But your soldiers saw me and attacked me. I was wounded and ran here." Then he looked at the king and said, "But when I reached here, you saved my life." His voice trembled. " I came to kill you, and you saved me." He began to cry. "Your Majesty, I apologize. If I survive, I will serve you for the rest of my life." A deep silence fell over the hut. King Jalaluddin stared at the man. Strange emotions were brewing in his heart. He thought, "This is the same man who came to kill me. But today I have saved his life." After a few moments, the king softly said, "I forgive you." The wounded man was astonished. The king said, "Not only do I forgive you, but I will investigate your brother's case as well. If he has been wronged, you will be given justice." Hearing this, the injured man turned to the king. He fell at his feet. He kept saying over and over, "Your Majesty, you are a great man." The night passed. In the morning, sunlight streamed into the hut. The injured man was better now. He was sleeping. The king came out of the hut where the dervish was sitting. The king said, " Baba Ji, I have been with you since yesterday." I asked you three questions, but you still haven't answered them. The dervish smiled. He said softly, "You have received the answers." The king was astonished. " How did I receive the answers?" The dervish said, "If you had n't helped me yesterday and dug, you would have been killed by that man on your way back." The king fell silent. The dervish said, " That's why the most important moment was when you were helping me." The king listened attentively. The dervish continued, "And at that moment, I was the most important person because you were helping me." There was surprise on the king's face. The dervish said, "Then when the injured man came, the most important person was him." Because you were saving his life. The king was now listening intently. But there was still one question left. What is the most important task? And the dervish was about to reveal a secret that would change the king's entire life. The soft morning light was spreading over the mountains. Birds were chirping in the trees, and a cool breeze was blowing around the dervish's hut. King Jalaluddin sat in front of the dervish. A single question lingered in his mind: What is the real answer to my three questions? The dervish looked silently at the ground and then began to speak softly. King Jalaluddin, most people in the world spend their entire lives searching for answers to these questions, but they never find the right one. The king was listening intently. The dervish said, "You came here yesterday. You asked me a question, but I didn't answer because if I had answered it immediately, you might have been Unable to understand the matter. The king shook his head. The dervish looked towards the sky and said, Sometimes life gives us answers not in words but in sentences. The king was surprised. The dervish said, "Whatever happened yesterday is the answer to your questions. " The king said impatiently, "Baba Ji, please tell me clearly, please bless me." The dervish smiled. Then he gave the first answer. Your first question was, "When is the most important time?" Darvesh said the most important time is the present moment. The king asked in surprise, "The present moment." The dervish nodded, "Yes, because this is the time which is in our control." Neither the past nor the future is in our hands. He kept saying, yesterday when you were digging the ground with me, that was the most important time. Because if you didn't do that, your enemy would kill you. The king became silent. He began to realize that the dervish was right. The dervish said, People are always regretting the past or worrying about the future. But they lose the present moment. Then the dervish gave another answer. Your second question was, who is the most important person ? The dervish replied, the most important person is the one who is present in front of you at this moment. The king was surprised. Darvesh did the wajahat because you do n't know who you are going to meet the next moment. He kept saying that yesterday I was in front of you first, so I was the most important person. Then he said, and when the wounded man came, he became the most important person. Because at this time it needed your help. The King took a deep breath. A strange sense of peace was developing in his heart. But one question still remained. What is the most important task? The king asked impatiently and the third question the dervish smiled and said the third question is the most important. The king leaned forward. The dervish said softly, "The most important thing is to do good and help others.". There was surprise in the king's eyes. The dervish said because man has been sent to this world for this very purpose. Then he pointed to yesterday's sentence. If you had not helped this injured man yesterday, he would have died. He paused and said, and perhaps hatred would have remained in your heart forever. The king said softly, "It's true." The dervish said but you helped it and your enemy became your friend. A strange light spread in the king's heart. He realized he had been chasing the wrong thing his whole life. Wealth, power, wars, but the real thing was something else. The dervish said, remember king, if you always appreciate the present moment and do good to the person in front of you, you will never make a wrong decision . The king's eyes became moist. He caught hold of the dervish's hands. Baba ji, you changed my life. At that very moment a voice came from inside the hut. The injured man had woken up. He came out and bowed before the king. Your Majesty, I have sent the news to the people of my tribe. We will no longer be your enemies. The king was astonished. In just one night his enemy had become a friend. But the king did not yet know that when he returned to his kingdom, another surprising incident would be waiting for him. An event that would change the fate of his entire country. Your Majesty, did you get answers to your questions? The king smiled. Yes, I got the answers. Then he narrated the words of the dervish to the entire court. At first the courtiers remained silent. Then a minister said, Your Majesty, if we really follow the principles, then our kingdom can become the best kingdom in the world. The king took the decision immediately. On this day he implemented new laws in the Sultanate. He ordered that from today onwards, humanity will be given first priority in our kingdom. He ordered justice to be done to the prisoners. Opened new treasures for the poor. Built hospitals for the sick. And most importantly, he himself started moving among the people. Now he did not take decisions just by sitting on the throne. He would go from village to village, listen to people and help them. People were surprised because they had never seen such a king before. Gradually the entire Sultanate started changing. The poor started becoming prosperous. People began to help each other and even enemy tribes became friends of the king. Many years later, one day King Jalaluddin was standing on the roof of the palace looking at the sky. The same moon was shining. The night when three questions arose in his heart. But today there was no restlessness in his heart. Today there was peace in his heart. He smiled softly and said, the secret of life was very simple. But I took too long to understand it. Then he looked up at the sky and said, "O Lord, I thank You for giving me the ability to understand the truth." And that day, King Jalaluddin wasn't just a powerful king. He became famous in history as a just and kind ruler. Even centuries later, people would tell his story, and they would always say the same thing. Three things are most important in this world. The most important time is the present moment. The most important person is the one right in front of you. And the most important thing is to do good to that person. And these three things changed a king's entire life.
