The video features a teaching session from a Christian training class where the speaker, referred to as Brother Joe, discusses essential doctrines of Christianity, focusing primarily on the theological debate between Calvinism and Arminianism. The session emphasizes unity among Christians despite differing doctrinal beliefs.
The teaching session culminates in a call to action for participants to pursue further study and understanding of Christian doctrine while fostering unity. The speaker emphasizes the importance of engaging with both the Word and people, promoting a balanced approach to faith that considers both divine sovereignty and human responsibility.
The session is a rich resource for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of core Christian doctrines while navigating the complexities of theological differences. The emphasis on unity and love serves as a reminder of the broader mission of the church in a diverse world.
hello welcome once again to advanced christian training school we are in class number 12. lesson number 11 and um so at last time together uh i'm i'm excited about what we're gonna look at tonight after last week's uh teaching i trust you've been roused up if you will to um be a bridge builder of doctrine with your brothers and sisters and not a wall builder um as you know as i have continually said and i will keep saying it because the church is too big to act so small the church i mean the called out one galatia i don't mean the buildings i mean we as the body of christ who have been given the commission to be salt and light not argumentative and strife people and sad to say because of doctrinal positions and other things but most of all the position of the church to unify has not been maybe where it all should be and my heart beats in brother joe because i know what unity does on the streets where i was at for 27 years for our save you talk about unity man we we protect each other we got you back bro well you know we're gonna cover each other man and be united we knew that was our strength i came into christianity at 27 and i said what in the world how do they expect to overcome when jesus had a house divided against itself cannot stand anyway so my heart's desire and in what i'm called to do when i'm teaching students and even ministers when there was other schools i've been involved in um i've had the privilege to help not change their mind about their positions not it at all my desire is to teach the other side of christianity in light of its sovereign grace versus free will and and give you an understanding on how to build a bridge with your brother and both of us cross the bridge together and we preach and teach jesus christ crucified buried and risen from the grave salvation by grace through faith alone that's it what more do we need we get all caught up in things and there are things we shouldn't defend that's not my issue the things we should stand up for but let's make sure we keep the main thing the main thing and that's jesus christ king of kings lord of lords this should always be our heart's desire the cross who is he and what's he doing of that you answer that question for me or the people you're talking to and we'll find out where people stand and what they really believe and what they really think and if need be you have a an apollo who's a polished exhorter of scripture but only knows the baptism of john aquila and priscilla come along and they're showing him the scripture said they're in acts i think it's chapter 11 or 9. he they showed him the more excellent way i love that the more excellent way this is the more excellent way jesus christ crucified buried him risen from the dead hallelujah anyway calm down a little bit but if we stay on jesus and make nothing else a preeminence which means first place we'll find the holy ghost will move in in our circumstances and our conversations in our activities whatever we're doing in a way where we always bring people back to jesus his finished work encounter oh the love of jesus remember the two great statements of of of of of doctrine uh are this the first one is this two nails three nails and two pieces of wood three nails and two pieces of wood the cross of our christ and the greatest song you can ever sing that's the greatest theological statement you can ever make and the greatest song you can ever sing is jesus loves me this i know for the bible tells me so you can sing the rest of it later on brother joe's not in the choir as you can tell but keep it simple and keep giving out the bread keep giving out the water of life keep sharing his love everywhere you go and don't be moved by maybe a calvinistic opinion or an armenian's position and build a bridge with your brother okay that's my heart anyway i promised you last week um i'm sure i know you have these in front of you the scripture verse remember i told you about these two camps god saw a sovereign grace which is calvinism and they believe god does everything to save a man and then the arminian camp who who believes that man's free will should choose or refuse the gift of grace and i promise you the scripture verses to to to validate both schools because both schools can be taught and both schools save people i know that's hard for some calvinists but bear bear bear with me please i love and i'm going to keep saying this and i hope you will to build a bridge with your brother of either camp charles heaven spurgeon if you haven't read any of his articles it was called the sword the trial and many of his sermons you will love them in light of his his his balance of things but he said this that settled my heart and i hope at some degree it settles your heart about both schools which is why i teach this class as fyi only because it's for your information only i'm not teaching you a position i'm teaching you the two positions of the church even though i know you have a position anyway cal uh charles hadn't this version said this i am calvin by doctrine i am armenian by practice i love it i am calvin by doctrine i am armenian by practice in other words i believe in the sovereignty of god i also believe i must compel all those to come whosoever will come and drink remember this last time the door of salvation remember this i held this up the master said these words whosoever will may come and drink freely in revelation 21 i love it but on the door of salvation you know you have two sides of the door in and out and on the other side it says what predestinated before the foundations of the world calvinism i mean as in both god uses both the same people do you know that now if you're hyped on either camp like i used to be you used to be no more you could get mad at brother joe fine get mad at god okay this is his word i can't explain it all and i don't intend to but i want to encourage you to have an understanding of both schools so you can simply build a bridge and take down the walls that christianity has built against each other and the devil stands back and said hey leave them alone let them fight amongst themselves we don't even bother them look at them they're all divided that's why they have no power no we have some power but oh how much more can we have if we back this to be methodists to be presbyterians if we pentecostals would be church of god in christ church of god and the church of god in christ first baptist number one second baptist number two i believe it's the third baptist now what in the world division oh you know when there's adoptional heresy of course but most of these are over petty things anyway and you put this on the door of your bedroom or your kitchen or down your basement to remind you to be calving by doctrine or many and by practice anyway i hope that blesses you but i want to give you the scripture verse of calvinism god's sovereignty and our meaning isn't as responsible they both use the word of god on each other now you should know the word have your position but be open to your brother who sees things a little differently than you and he may have some light for you that could help balance things out and we join hands together jesus said how to divide it against the self cannot stand hmm i'm interested in building a bridge with my brothers no matter how strong they may feel of their position which i respect but i won't let them push me over the line of arguing and becoming angry with each other and no longer talking that to me violates the word of god anyway if you have your printout of calvinism uh god sovereignty here's the scripture verses i promise you that they still now this is only nine of them they have a lot more but so does armenianism and we'd be here for days if i kept reading how they think and feel i'm only wetting your appetite believe me i'm just waiting for appetite often where you can go on the depths of either school or learning both and i encourage you to to you know dive as deeply as you can and how much you can handle um calvinism god's sovereignty and this is how it is it is talked about and entitled has as you can see it says human inability to come to christ notice the terminology there human inability they're saying they ain't got no chance of coming to christ here's why look at number one uh can the ethiopian change his skin with a leopard it's spots no then may you also do good where customers do evil jeremiah 13 23 in other words we don't have the ability to do good we're evil now we can do a human good we're talking about god's good number two yeah i i i go off on all of these on this side and the other side i i won't i expect you to dig as far as guys want you to dig okay number two another verse that they use how can you being evil speak good things put out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh matthew 12 34. number three uh for a calvinistic uh verse a good tree cannot bear bad fruit nor can a bad tree bear good fruit matthew 7 18 what's that means when we're all born we're all bad trees aren't we what's the first thing a child learns to say or do when they can start to talk usually no mine no mine all selfish things that the uh sinful nature that everyone is born with has no ability to want to do good at the level god requires that is number four and who then can be saved but jesus looked at them and said to them with men this is impossible oh boy but with god all things are possible matthew 19 25 26 amen number five no oh boy no one can come to me unless the father who sent me draws him wow john 6 44. verse i mean number seven no one come to me unless it has been granted to him by the father john 6 65 here we got this you can't unless i number eight why do you not understand my speech because you are not able to listen to my words you ever talk to people who are unsaved and after you get done sharing even john 360 with them they still look at you like there's something wrong with you and you're the one who's completely right they don't have the ability to god unplugged the the the the hearing of of the sinful nature to allow the truth to come in um i remember the first verse of scripture i ever heard it got me so mad in psalm 118 verse 24. i know you know this verse i might have mentioned it before but it's almost a cliche christianity when it's the word of god that is quick and active and sharpening to a sword here it is this is the day the lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it now here i am 27 high as a kite smoking the ganja sunday morning i crawled in from the weekend i turned the tv on to goof on it and come down to my eye i'm smoking a joint i'm smoking marijuana before the law i spoke illegal marijuana i'm not saying now so please don't condemn me uh and i turn tv on and who comes out dr robert schumer i don't know this dude is and he's in the robe and he got a big smile and he says this is the day the lord has made let us rejoice and begin don't forget my point it's the first verse of scripture i ever heard and that what did you say to me this is the day lord has made i should rejoice and be glad isn't it are you all right man i'm yelling and cussing at the tv because that word came in and started to rip me apart i said this is the day how do you make a day man take a day how can you put time and people and stirring and put in the oven and put the oven on and cook it oh and then i said ah so you've been making this day huh that's why i'm miserable but then you tell me to be glad in it how can i be and i am furious what's the point the words coming in now so the word is my point in the lives of people you meet one oh god remember paul said in first corinthians chapter 6 one planteth another water but god causes the increase plant the word you might be the sower or you might be the water just do i tell god every day i'm available i'm available there about quick check shop right speedy gas station walking the boardwalk and in the pure village and long branch and asbury i am available to plant your word it's okay to have an opinion on things but always leave them if possible as much it depends on you with the word all right let me get out i'm getting too far now number seven um no no i'm sorry this is calvinistic scripture version that use on on us why do you not understand my speech this is the master talking because you are not able they're not able you plant the word the holy ghost comes along and ignites the word in their spirit it brings forth salvation when they do that i don't know watch what jesus said about this john chapter 3 after he talks about 316 then he said these words as the wind blows where it wills that you know not from where it comes from so is everyone born of the spirit everyone was born is that the wind you don't know where it comes from you don't even know when it's coming oh i will tell you what when it comes honey it's a mighty russian wind like on pentecost my god hey never mind for when we were still without strength in due time christ died for the ungodliness without strength we had no ability to get saved we had no ability to change ourselves there had to be and what they call and he initiates the father initiates the calling of his children anyway that's that's that's calvinistic uh some some of their verses uh you can go online and check all this out this gets pretty deep i'm just trying to watch your appetite to prepare you for the ministry god's calling you to do to be a bridge builder not a wall builder anyway let's let's look at what armenians said whoa whoa whoa brother joe whoa hold on now you calvinistic brother joe there's another side of these scripture verses too that you overlooked well let's look at him armenian man's responsibility and some of you are saying amen of course you got saved that way didn't you didn't you i don't deny either way that god moves i cannot because our father he just goes beyond us as teachers as whatever we are and just does what he wants to do i am the god of all flesh he said nothing is too difficult for me what is the soul of tarsus on his way to the masses to arrest and imprisoned maybe at times even murder a few they accidentally died on the way back to jerusalem i don't know what happened to him this boy is as mean as a junkyard dog he biting everybody wasn't he and what did god say to him on that road on that day in acts chapter nine bang boom as the wind blows where it was he says saul why are you persecuting me i'm choosing you as my vessel to bear my name before kings queens rulers before hell itself you're my chosen vessel now get up what's the first thing we find him doing after ananias laid his hands on him scales fall down and he's baptized he's preaching jesus as the christ that's pretty good for someone who didn't pray a prayer get the drift anyway i mean this man's responsibility here we go this is the other side of the school this this is the bridge that we want to meet together calvinism and everything meeting together why look at these verses that are you here human responsibility to come to christ nothing wrong with that we're compelled to come aren't we are we all right who's where i don't know something i want to share with you today uh number one here's some of their scriptures somehow some of them they they they have others just as long as catholic as as as the calvinism the calvinists do number one choose for yourself this day whom you will search right we have choice that's joshua 24 15. we don't remember that verse uh number two come to me all you who labor and heavy lady and i will give you rest that's matthew 11 28 you should come number three if anyone wills to do his will he shall know concerning the doctrine whether it is from god he wills too he's right there brother jose amen that's found in john 7 17. number four if anyone thirsts anyone not not not the elect not just you know certain race of color or yeah enough of anyone let him come to me and check i love this boy john 7 37 nasty invite to everyone to come number five repent and then every one of you be baptized acts two thirty eight six seven every time number six repent therefore and be converted see that you have the responsibility to repent number seven believe anyone can believe on the lord jesus christ and you will be saved so you choose to believe or not to believe right that's what it says can you see the argument building up between post schools you see it it might be building up to you right now right yeah and i understand hold on calvin by doctrine armenian my practice compel them all looking look at look at number seven believe in lord jesus christ and you will be saved see brother joy and you will believe that's right that's what it says number eight but now but now commands all men everywhere to repent so you can truly repent or not number nine whosoever wills wow brother joe that that that just throws calvin right into the ocean doesn't it let's take freely let me take the water of life freely revelation 22 17 which is what i show you constantly but look at all this brother joe it's rather obvious all you got to do is choose to receive it or not yeah that's what it says which one's right brother joe both the word of god is true on both sides amen it is further to talk about these things but this is basic bible doctrine i'm trying to to keep it simple but yet wet your appetite and most of all equip you to talk to your brothers and sisters out there beyond maybe your denominational wall if you will we've all got these walls and we need to receive each other in the love of jesus christ but here's one more verse i know you're very familiar with all of us are and the gospel of john it's not in your note right now you have your bible which i trust you do john chapter one all right and and we all know this one starting we all know this one don't we verse 12. here's here's here here's both schools wrapped up real quick in two verses john chapter 12 and 13. are you ready but as many as received him to them he gave the right to become the children of god to those who believe in his name see brother joe there it is you have to come forward and you have to receive christ that's right let's read verse 13 who were born not a blood nor of the will of the flesh nor the will of man the armenian preachers on 12. and the cowardice creatures are 13 and they're both together you cannot separate the sovereignty and man's responsibility and i can't give you any more explanation as to how why other than that's what the word says that's what i do and that's what i preach and let god take care of the results amen i i can't tell you what a joy it has been for me over these past 12 weeks to impart to use some light doctrinally speaking the ones that we looked at over the first well eight lessons that we looked at and there are more than eight there's probably 10 what they call the non-negotiables of christianity we did not look at the atonement okay and we didn't look at what the eschatology the study of last things those are two more doctrines that you can glean over even in the the manual that you have by mr congress uh there is a depth in there the atonement the faith movement brought forth some things out of the bible that they include in the atonement of healing and prosperity the old school or the old church if you will before the faith woman came along uh did not have healing and prosperity at the level that the faith movement brought forth in other words the old school believed in healing and prosperity but only at the discretion of god's sovereignty there was not much you could do about healing in fact i remember when i first got saved back in 1977 i used to get scared sometimes i hear that you never know brother joe you know god's sovereign that's yeah yesterday man i'm glad he is that's how he saved me uh but you never know when uh what happened to job might happen to you uh what happened to job i don't know about job i thought that meant job oh what do you mean well you know god took everything from including his family whoa why would he do that to teach you a lesson because he saw it well now i'm walking around with this fear of god taking everything from me just to teach me and correct me i don't know what in the world he would teach me encouraging me about what it's interesting how the old school would never ever want to talk about job chapter 43 the last chapter they talked about one and two and they never would get near 43. never where god restored everything back double hey tell me the goodness of god i i know there's times of chastisement i deny that there's times of growth and situation that i must pass through and i'd have my share of them like i'm sure all of you have but my god well someone please tell me the goodness of god and that's when god raised up you know your hagins and your copelands um you know dr fred price and dr creperno david t them all of these men of god who on the north eastern part of america now they have these things out there in the midwest for oral roberts and and some of you remember river knight in philadelphia pennsylvania um they might have been a little off on some things but they were they they believed in the goodness of god as my point on how god was a good father um and then that movement you know began to bring forth uh healing uh with your faith and prosperity with what you sow we were never taught those things in the old school and it was my point those things are are included at a higher level in the atonement in faith-moving people and rightly so the church you know it's what they call it was always in the word uh it's what they call uncovered truth the truth was always there about divine healing and faith and victory and prosperity those things are there we are not denying that at all i'm so thankful for those areas now my christian life that have made me more uh stronger in resisting the the enemies doubt and unbelief and poverty mentality and sickness being a love token from god i love what pastor dave said one time years ago show me in the gospels where god where the lord jesus ever made anybody sick whoa whoa yeah he never did if anything he made everybody well didn't he so shouldn't we be about our father's business and lay hands on the sick or see him recover or was he a miracle let's believe god but my point was just send me atonement those things are included in there that's why they're not separate and i know some churches might separate them but in the atonement prosperity and victory and overcoming and faith and healings and miracles and signs that's what the early church is all about and it should be the if the early then the older church should be even more uh pronouncing these these these great uh uh promises of god's word amen calm down anyway we saw the first eight uh um doctrines uh i'll just go with him real quickly and then i'm gonna kind of sign off on you and give you an easy night because you have a test you know anyway we had theology the study of god and remember g.o.d god in the printer's type stands for elohim and that's that's it's not his name um sad to say the word god out there is generic i like talking about the god of the bible here i put that the god of the bible now i go deeper if i have to in fact i usually want to not just god as as to put a forth the power and the strong one who just speaks when they happen the only true god but now he's my father hallelujah he's the god and father of the lord and savior jesus christ he's the god and father of joe bolina of you he's our father let's refer to him as father jesus said it real clear didn't he our father who where art in heaven hallowed be thy name that was part of our theological discussion and consideration in light of his name why hwh we can't even pronounce it so we put an a and a e to give it yahweh it's unpronounceable it's it's so holy so but he has a name that's point in fact i love what revelation says in chapter 21 that he's going to put his name on our forehead oh my god it's an eternity to come when they see you they'll see his name and they'll run if there's enemy around or the respect factor of yhwh will make people in all that you are the son of god little s you're not the son you are a son jesus is the son we are a son big difference but still join with him hallelujah i can't wait for returning again anyway we looked at then number two christology the person and work of the lord jesus christ born of a virgin lived the life sinless perfection before us and was crucified buried and risen from the grave for our sins thank you lord jesus his personhood he said he that has seen me have seen the father whoa pretty good second person of the triune godhead amen that's not negotiable number three we have pneumatology pneuma meaning wind air talking about the spirit of god the holy spirit i love what the old baptist used to drill in us he's holy brother joe so guess what you should be living oh oh yeah holy come out from amongst them and be separate says the lord touch not the unclean things separate yourself from those worldly people and from the nonsense and you all know what i mean by nonsense don't you you we used to say slipping and slapping um the holy spirit lives in us we are the temple my god think about it we are the temple god lives inside of us so where we go god goes so we can do things that jesus could do um greater things in measure okay but he did everything he could possibly want so i think we should follow in his footsteps as we have opportunity god brings people in our paths to display his glory into the wonderful name of jesus anyway number four anthropology the study of man how we were made in the image of god and sin took away that image we are not all meaning the whole human race sons of god i know a lot of religions out there like to talk about that that we're all children of god no you're not you are sons of adam after you're saved you become a child of god everyone's a child of adam or from his seed his lawrence after we're saved that's canceled out and we now become the sons of god number five oh you some of you could teach this better brother joe harmatology that's that doctrine of sin baby do we understand the power and the consequences and the penalty of sin um adam made one mistake disobeying the law that god the commandment that god gave him in the garden don't eat of that trait one so see adam was under law under commandment wasn't he and he had the will to choose then didn't he oh yeah and of course we know what happened that his spiritual side of him died immediately that his body followed later his his mind was was was reduced um from where it was it's called the lantern of the mind watchmen needs book you'll love it the lantern of the mind in other words adam's mind before he sinned was extremely vast he could talk with god on a one-on-one walking together in the garden it says how do you communicate with elohim at that level of of of interacting and not feeling inferior but just walk them yeah cool his mind and his intellect and spiritual understanding was like i don't know if my arms can go wide enough to what it was and as soon as he sinned his mind his spiritual understanding was completely dead and his mind of understanding and intellect shrunk to a little window what i mean like a little window sometimes we look through that window and we see and i mentioned this to you in in this teaching little eight-year-olds and nine years old genius mathematicians they teach the professor they challenge the know-it-all they put them in special school because their minds are so high-tech if you will with understanding what is going on here we're seeing just a window ah juilliard school where these ten-year-olds can play incredible music what are we seeing we're seeing just a little glimpse of what adam mary was anyway then we saw sodorology the doctrine of salvation that is by grace through faith um glyciology the study of the church and how god has had his called out ones to be the salt and light of the world um angelology we saw that there are good angels and as you know there are bad names so fell and we saw how michael and and and and um um michael uh the archangel and the uh the other angel who who saw that they kept their abode and they remained in what they call sinless perfection um those were the eight doctrines that we looked at that i trust you will go even deeper in and just to give you a little encouragement to really listen to someone who has a greater handle on these things than i ever will his name was robbie zechariah i deliberately bought this booklet with me because it was sent to me after he had passed away they had a memoir of him as most of you know he went home to be with the lord and yet his teachings have influenced so many of us including myself to a high degree of um what the doctrines of christianity and how to dialogue with people who are maybe you know intellectually uh thinking that they have something they can tell you that counters what you know is divine truth he he his ability to be able to to share in a way that makes people think and that was what he was always all about in fact then because his program was let my people think and he wasn't talking about as shallow on the surface thinking he wanted us to go deeper and i trust these classes that the past 12 weeks have challenged you and brought you to a deeper understanding of the love of jesus anyway i love you i've been a blessing to be part of your lives hope to see you in the leadership training that we have here keep growing in grace in the knowledge of jesus christ and don't forget only two things last week the word and people put the word the people and you have a double investment in the kingdom of god love you
