for un for for for people that used to be kids and were grown up uh a lot of people have come and gone since since we've uh owned the business um but it there is a real sense of uh a community around the shop so you know we've we've had customers for example um that have been coming coming for 40 years and um we we've known them like uh our friends you know almost like a second family a lot of them we know them on a first time basis Etc and and they're very loyal to us over the years uh you can always see a regular stream of people coming in here uh and it's always great value for money and I think it's it's one of the reasons why it attracts people so our clientele at the shop isn't just you know Punjabi people there's all sorts of customers that come and seeing that Community come together is really beautiful the food of course is delicious but there's an added incentive to come because the people who cook the food and sell the food the family are very lovely people and it's always a pleasure to see them and that adds to the whole experience of coming just like to thank them for um supporting us for all the these years without them we wouldn't be here um we're happy that um you know some of some of them being able to help us today to make this documentary and as long as we can we we'd love to keep on serving them yeah thanks very much when I first came here in 27 years ago this was literally the first place I walked into as I was going to my home and it just made me feel that this was a home away from home and I loved it because it's not just the shop and the food it was the family and the way they greeted me I just felt so welcomed and ever since then it's been a long relationship with them a solid one as well the fact that they're still here after all these years are I remember talking to them some years ago about all the recessions that they've ridden and they said do you know we'll still be here despite the next few recessions and they've come through covid and the most recent recession and they're still here so firstly the quality of the food is something that I often hear a lot of people talk about in a positive way and everything's made fresh and it's got that home touch in it which a lot of us seek and sometimes obviously there might be a bit of bias in here sometimes when we go to very fancy places it's almost style over substance um and though our food is very very simple it's the humility comes through in it it's very authentic and it's through the food that you know people have stories to tell as well so when I was in nqt that's a newly qualified teacher at a local school I used to come here after work and do my marking in the shop I would sit on a table sort of in the same area and I'd order a Samosa and have it with the Chutney and some tea and the cup they served the tea in was the same as what my grandma has back at home and this was something that really connected me to the shop and the fact that it was a family run business and I appreciated that and it was somewh that I could come and feel relaxed but welcome as well um and do what I needed to do every day it's a it's a business that a lot of people know about and uh the inspiration really just comes from on a day-to-day basis for me personally it gives me um a connection with my Punjabi boots I was born in amitz and this is the the food that we love my whole family love it um and being able to eat it regularly gives me a a memory of those time spent with my daddy in am so something else that I really want to talk about is this book which holds a lot of special memories for our family oh yes this book I remember this book it's called the teacher and the teacher was set in uh hsow during the 1980s and it's special to me because in this book there is a teacher who has come to a local school in the area and during her visit she um meets my younger brother it's got my shop in it it's got me my mom and dad in it all my teachers used to come and eat from the shop as well and they still do actually my my senior School teachers do he actually brings her to our shop so there is a page in this book that features my family and so it reads felicity's come to our shop and she's trying to resist trying a fudge like Suite which is barfy here we are look mom and dad in the shop me in the middle can you see it and she's talking about the flavors and how she has a chat with the family as well and to me that has captured the essence of our shop and though it was written in the80s it is still the same kind of conversations that take place oh for okay fore India India hello I have Say Never lady he lady IND 23 continuously no break re it was so natural wasn't like Po come here what would you like to say I don't know she's got nothing to say about I've got nothing to say she does camera um one of my first memories is that door Market all the time and it was gr on I'm going to miss the sh so much the fore for give me 10 for pap for come l custom for bu when describing a Galaxy you'll probably expect me to talk about the moon and the stars but my vision of a galaxy is unlike any description of a galaxy galaxy depicts love the love and passion I see for serving others the love I see in communities Gathering a place in which I've celebrated many an occasion birthdays dalies r a setting in which I've seen an army of people serving others a teacher who's introduced me to Exquisite flavors it's where I've seen sacrifices family businesses bring and it's also the reason I have enjoyed many a privilege it's where my mother's hands have aged it's where she's fed the nation prepared soses at Sonic's speed it's where food stories have earned a space in my life a place where staff became family when future me will want to describe a Galaxy you'll probably expect me to take you on an adventure of the moon and the stars but for me I'll be taking you down memory lane a path for food and family for Galaxy is a core memory and where food literally became life for
