how to create systems in your life the ant method do you ever wonder why you don't stick to your habits why you struggle with discipline and motivation whenever you try to change your diet or workout or get more traction in your business are you looking for a way to create stress fee systems to help you accomplish your goals if so this video is for you I lost 100 pound in my 30s and I'm one of the 1% of people who have kept it off for more than 10 years I started sharing how I did it with over 9,000 people by starting and growing gyms in two different continents I've also helped over 2,000 entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses the method I'm about to share with you will not only help you get on stock but will help you develop the systems that make it impossible for you to fail I share this stuff because there's a ton of people who learn theories from books videos or courses they took and then turn it around and try to sell it to you most times they haven't even tried it themselves to see if it worked I can tell because I've read all the same books watch all the same videos and taken the same courses the difference is I've tried these things myself and when it worked I shared it with other people refined the process to get actual results and then got rid of all the fluff so I can share it with you I want to give you things that have actually worked with real people to change their lives and after spending tens of thousands of hours coaching people one-on-one to develop habits and systems I learned a ton about what doesn't work but I've also learned a few things that really worked so here's how I like to break down systems first you have to turn yourself into an ant an ant spends its whole life doing two things finding food and getting food the way it works is that Scout ants use their sense of smell to sniff food up to a 100 miles away they wander around towards the scent and leave trails behind them so that when they finally find it they can find their way back to the Colony and notify the worker ants the worker ants follow the path back to the food and then they March it back the more ants that have followed the path the straighter and clearer the path becomes so that eventually hundreds of ants at once can go get the food so how does this apply to your goals and creating systems let's say that you have a goal like getting in shape when you first started you're kind of like that Scout ant you have this sense that you want to get in shape which is like that ant's sense of smell when an ant sniffs around he smells that food everywhere so he has to decide which food is the closest and smells the best that determines the direction he wants to go so for you you have this goal of getting in shape that could mean literally anything it could mean losing 20 lbs getting stronger building or building muscle running a marathon learning how to bench press 200 lb or getting more flexible so you have to decide which one is the closest and easiest and sounds the best to you this is going to determine the direction that you want to go now this step stops a ton of people most people in fact most people prefer to wander around sniffing at things they might want and never actually head in a direction and that's okay if you're a worker ant but if a scout ant wanders around sniffing and never heads back towards the food he and the rest of the colony will die of starvation so he has to pick a direction and go even if it turns out to be dangerous or difficult or might result in his death he has got to go because the cost of an action is certain death so he has no choice he's got a pict Direction and head that way and that's the first step to create systems in your life is to choose a path you have to pick a direction or an outcome and head towards it so instead of saying I want to get in shape you say I want to lose 20 lbs this is a clear direction and you say no to everything else you get clear about where you want to go and even if it's difficult or dangerous at least you're headed somewhere without a direction there's no system that is going to help you but once you pick a Direction that's where being a human rules compared to being ant there's a reason we're at the top of the food chain and that reason is just about every single goal that you can imagine has already been done by someone at some time and so with the internet and YouTube and Ai and all the info we have access to to in the world the paths are pretty well laid out already so once you pick that direction you can immediately switch into worker ant mode and just start following the path you don't have to risk your life or do all the difficult exploring you just have to find a clear path path and adapt it to your life and that's how we create systems once that Scout lays down the first path and comes back to the Colony the first worker ant starts following it back to the food they bring it back and then a few more worker ants follow the path as the first few go down the path they smooth out the edges and make it more direct laying down Fresh Tracks to avoid the rocks or leaves eventually the path becomes an ant Super Highway and they get all the food so surely there is somebody in the world who has successfully lost 20 lb right I'm pretty sure there are because I've worked with thousands of them myself and you got to imagine that some of them left tracks on how they did it in fact there are thousands of diet books YouTube videos or free guides out there on how they've done it so if you just find one and follow the path you will get there eventually and just like just like those ants did so if you know the basic elements of losing 20 lbs and keeping it off are moving more eating less and recovering for 3 months then you have the idea of a path that you need to follow the catches it's still A New Path when the ant starts stuff comes up and you have to learn how to avoid those pitfalls for the ants that's things like birds rocks or kids trying to burn them eventually they figure out ways around this and get to the food for your goal the most common obstacles are a lack of clarity around the path for example what does move more mean do you have to lift weights how do you do it what should you do What routine should you follow what about cardio what type of cardio should you be running running walking biking and how often how many days a week should you be showing up if you don't figure this stuff out then you might still get to the goal but it's going to take you a lot longer than 3 months because you'll be fumbling around and figuring it out only slightly less than that first Scout ant that you followed to get there and it's highly likely that your dream will die along the way because of all the pitfalls and dangers like illnesses events or just PL old boredom and that is just the move more part the eating less part is even harder no wonder people feel so lost even though the answers are seemingly laid out right in front of them there are almost too many obstacles and the path feels anything but straight and that's why we have to go to step number two clear the path the real is ants are kind of dumb it's not their fault they have little brains they try to stay alive but they can easily be killed in so many ways and continue to risk their lives to get food no matter how much bug spray we use if they follow these winding paths that take them into dangerous territory it's because they believe it's the right way to do things they see all the other ants doing it and they watch them walk right into danger and some of them don't make it but they keep going because that's what everyone else is doing why don't they just figure out the simplest path and just go straight to the tacos that would be a whole lot easier the thing is after working with thousands of people I'm not convinced that humans are much smarter we say we want a thing and then we take the most windy and circuitous path to get there with tons of danger and questions and things that aren't figured out along the way why don't we just take the most direct path to the goal why do we always make it so hard we're given a direct set of things to do like working out and we do silly things like not planning it or putting it in our calendar not having the tools we need to do the job like the right shoes or the right clothes or relying on our memory willpower motivation and discipline the real is you're just an ant bumping around trying to find that food if you don't have a clear path to bump around in you'll hit too many obstacles you'll get lost and you'll starve so you want to create systems to make it impossible for you to fail it's like creating a path Paving it and putting giant walls around it so you have no other place to go but forward in other words you're using every single tool at your disposal to get yourself to do that action which helps you avoid all the distractions and get you straight to that goal so let's say that you want to create a system around working out meaning you want an environment that makes it impossible for you to fail If This Were me one of some of the things I would do is I would set out my clothes the night before I would schedule the workout session that you have to show up for I'd go to a session where they tell you exactly what to do so you don't have to figure it out yourself I'd have some workout buddies or I'd make a bet with one of my friends and I would do it first thing in the morning so that I got it out of the way and I didn't change my mind later in the day if I wanted to eat better I would buy a ton of fruit and keep it around I would buy easy protein sources I'd get some pre-prepared meals or do weekly meal prep and I'd get rid of all the junk food in my house let's take sleep if I wanted to improve my sleep I would do some onetime actions like buying blackout curtains or getting my room cooler uh or getting a more comfortable bed I create a bedtime routine for myself to make sleeping more fun I would set some shutdown times set some alarms to tell me when to go to bed and I'd measure my sleep or keep score to give myself a Target let's say that you wanted to lose 20 lbs you'd have to do all three of those things but you would also want to weigh yourself every day to track the data create a journal to track your habits sleeping eating recovering get accountability for your habits someone you would text every night and tell them what you did or make a bet with other people who are doing the same thing there is a laid out path for almost every goal you can imagine but you probably knew that already if you didn't now you do the problem is we don't do step number three which is to follow the path we all think that we are special snowflakes the thing that work for someone else isn't going to work for us or we have to tweak it and customize it for our own special needs now the good news is if you think you are special and it won't work for you you can still be successful but you have to do one of these two things number one you have to prove that it doesn't work for you by doing it exactly as they did and seeing what happens you might be surprised what happens if you copy their exact path or you can let go and be special in other areas of your life now I chose number two when I realized that a lot of my areas of life a lot of the areas of my life are not special my car is not special my clothes are not special my face is not special so why am I special when it comes to my business or my health now probably the things that work for other people will also work for me so I'll just be special in other areas of my life like cooking a steak on a grill I'm special there you can't beat me in that one so how do we put this all together well we had three steps number one was to pick a specific goal that was choosing a path number two was to find someone like you who has done this specific goal that's clearing the path and number three do exactly what they did which is following a path and here's a bonus you can hire them to show them to show you exactly what they did I have done this in so many different areas of my life I've done it for swimming so my specific goal there was to swim a mile and what I did was I found somebody who was a crappy swimmer that learned how to swim and did exactly what they did it was something called total immersion swimming so I went to a workshop and I did exactly what they said and I practiced and finished a Triathlon where I had to start by running a mile I did this for learning how to play guitar I wanted to play a song called lovely day by Bill Withers on the guitar and then found an instructor who did it in person I took lessons I did everything they told me until I got it I also did this for my business I used to sign up about 10 to 12 clients a month and one month I decided I wanted to sign up 50 clients so I found someone who did it that was had a similar business to mine in a different area and I copied their exact offer and plan and signed up 55 clients in one month so this works in every area of life so if you want to create your system you need to ask yourself number one what is your specific goal number two who like you has done this and then number three can you copy their exact plan step by step and produce the same results and if you can hire them to show you exactly how to do it you can also save yourself a ton of time if you do this you'll be like those ants who take that Direct path to the food it really doesn't have to be so hard you just follow these three steps and stop making it harder than it needs to be so if you like this and you want more free stuff go sign up for my email list
