Friends, recently I watched a Tamil psychological thriller film called Trending directed by Shivaraj. The film has received 5.7 stars out of 10 on IMDb and its ratings are not available on Rotten Tomatoes. So in today's video, we will know the story of the trending movie and talk about its ending. So in the beginning of the film we meet a couple whose husband's name was Arjun and wife's name was Meera. Both of them were lifestyle influencers. That means he had a YouTube channel named Arjun Meera. There was a Facebook page and even an Instagram handle where these people used to do daily live vlogs. I mean, it means making cute couple videos and all that. In fact, both of them had 2.98 million subscribers on their YouTube channel and this was their primary earning from there. During the intro song of the film, we are shown his YouTube journey and how his subscribers increased. Then came the silver play button , followed by the gold play button. He took everything including the house and car. Not only this, both of them also received the Best Couple Award last week. But there was also a problem in his life. The problem was that despite many efforts, Meera was not getting pregnant and she desperately wanted a child. Apart from this, in one scene we see old cut marks on Meera's hand and she is crying. You will know why this is so later in the story. For now, both of them are living a happy life and one night they go to a party of one of their friends who had completed 5 million subscribers. Here these people were talking about YouTube algorithm and subscribers not increasing rapidly. Also, we viewers also understand that Meera has kept a thing about her past hidden from her husband Arjun till date. After the party, when Arjun gets into his car, he gets a call from a private number. The person on the other side of the call was inviting Arjun to a reality game show and to accept the invite, Arjun had to blow his car horn three times. Arjun thinks it's a fake call and cuts the call saying he's not interested. Well, after this Meera comes in the car and here Arjun tells Meera that if they want to go viral for one or two weeks then they will have to pretend to have a fake divorce notice in front of their subscribers so that they start trending everywhere. Meera finds this strange but Arjun starts convincing her to do this drama. In fact, Arjun had even got a fake notice made and he was planning to do all this drama from tomorrow. But when Arjun wakes up the next morning, he finds out that his channel has disappeared from YouTube. Yes friends, Arjun was completely shocked by this and he tells this to Meera. Both of them try to get help from their friends at YouTube support. But his channel was not coming back. After the channel took off, both of them trend on Twitter for a day or two. Then people forget them and move on. And in such a situation, both of them, fed up, create another channel named Arjun Meera 2.0. Now this channel got some subscribers but usually the comments etc. were negative. I mean in general, when a YouTuber reaches the top from a small level, gets a house or a car, then people become jealous. And then he gets a lot of haters and wants his downfall. So when the downfall has happened, hate comments will start coming if he starts a new channel. In this situation, Arjun and Meera do paid PR and get positive comments etc. posted. But due to the closure of the main channel, their earnings had almost become zero. In such a situation, both of them are unable to pay the EMI of the house for 2 months and the loan collectors come to their house and physically intimate Arjun and threaten him. Arjun asks them for a week 's time so that he can arrange the money in a week. Well, the next day Meera gets a call from a private number where the person on the other side was inviting Meera for a reality game show. This was the same man who had called Arjun earlier. But Arjun ignored his call. Meera also thinks it is a prank call. But this man says that Meera can earn a lot of money from this game show. Due to which all his problems will be solved. To participate in the game show, Meera just has to ring her call bell three times. Now since Meera was currently in financial crunch, she rings the call bell three times due to which her participation is accepted for the game show and in return of this small task, ₹ lakh also comes into Meera's bank. After this the person making the phone call says that he will call Meera again at exactly 5:00 pm. Now Meera immediately tells all this to Arjun and at first Arjun was angry that why Meera wants to participate in such an unknown game show. But when Arjun learns that Meera has received ₹1 lakh for a small task, he too gets excited about the game. At exactly 5:00 pm he gets a call back and the caller introduces himself as the host of this game show. The host was wearing a weird Yan Yang type mask and he also says his name is Mask. Arjun asks Mask if this show is legal and how are these people paying so much money for a simple task? On this, Maas says that the show is completely legal. In fact, there are only two players in this show, Meera and Arjun, and they have to play the game show at their homes. There will be a total of four stages in this game and the game show will run for 7 days and if these people win the show then they will get ₹ crore as prize money. As for who watches this show? Well, Musk said that this show is watched by some private users who are very rich people and that is why they get so much money for small tasks in the show. Now friends, this has not been said anywhere in the movie but from the words of the mask it seems as if this show might be streaming on the dark web etc. Well, Meera was skeptical whether she should play this show or not. But after hearing such a huge amount, Meera and Arjun get ready to play the games. That night, game show people come to their house and they fit cameras etc. everywhere in the house. Then he keeps two boxes at his house. Then there were the different TVs and speakers, then there was a buzzer that had red and green buttons. Then a big box and finally a gift box too. Before leaving, the game show people draw a yellow line outside their house and a red line beyond it. After the setup, the game show people leave and the game starts from the next day where the mask appears on their TV. The mask tells three rules of the game. First, only these two will play the game. The second rule is that these people will not cross the red line outside their house until the game is over. And the third rule is that they should not tell anyone about this game show. Now if you want to quit at any point in the game, you have to press the red button with the buzzer. Keep in mind that if both press the red button, then these people can quit the game taking the money they have won. But if only one person presses the red button then he will have to quit without taking the prize money. Now the two boxes kept here were related to the game which will keep opening in the stages. But what is a gift box has nothing to do with the game. By opening that box, their winning amount will be halved and there is a kind of alarm inside it which will cause problems for both of them. The problem is that after opening the box, both of them will come to know things about each other's past which will not be good for them. Hearing this, Arjun and Meera laugh because according to them they have not hidden anything about their past from each other. Whatever the case, both of them decide that they will not open the gift box under any circumstances. Well the game begins and the first stage was quite simple where they had to play basic home games. Like putting balls in the bin, playing darts, walking while holding a cup and all that. Both of them earn ₹3 lakh from these games. Also, his stream got 202 likes and he was to get ₹1000 per like. So the total amount of likes became ₹2,20,000, which means the total amount from the first game became ₹5,20,000. But here comes the last round of the first stage where there is a twist. The twist is that both of them have to make a 30-second reel and this reel should get 50 likes in 15 minutes. Otherwise, all the money he has won will become zero. Hearing this, both of them get tensed because getting 500 likes on one reel in 15 minutes was almost impossible. Here both of them start brainstorming ideas for their reels and Arjun finds that breaking things helps in getting likes on the reels. That's why he thinks of breaking the bike gifted by his wife because people might like this video. But then he gets a notification that Meera has already made and uploaded a reel. Arjun checks and in this reel, Meera was grooving with some bold moves, cigarette and liquor in her hand. Now friends, Meera's online personality was that of a simple girl. But suddenly after seeing such reels of his, the audience starts getting engaged and likes start coming on the reels. Arjun was not able to understand what reel he should make. So he makes a danger reel by hanging from the roof saying that it is a roof top challenge. So the reels of both of them have been uploaded. Likes start coming. But Arjun's reel gets only about 1000 likes in 15 minutes. Whereas more than 5000 likes are crossed on Meera's reel. In such a situation, Meera wins additional money. Then I was getting likes on the likes of private audience also. In such a situation, the total amount that now comes out was ₹17,000. Stage one of the game ends but by now cracks have started appearing between Meera and Arjun. Arjun was not happy that Mira posted such a reel. Meanwhile, Meera was not happy that Arjun hung from the ceiling just for likes. Eventually, both of them convince each other that it's just a game. This task has nothing to do with personal life and after earning enough money, both of them will quietly quit the game. Now that night they come to know that some people started doing Arjun's roof top challenge and one guy even broke his leg after falling. The story goes that nowadays people start doing anything in the name of challenge. Now that very night a guy from a game show comes to their house and leaves a brief case. The lock code of the brief case was the same as the number of likes Mira got on her reels in 15 minutes, which was 51234. If you look at this number, it is something like 1 2 3 4 5. Just That Five is first than 1 2 3 4 Anyways when they open the brief case they find a lot of money inside it. Basically, this was the amount that both of them had won in the first stage. Both of them become very happy seeing the money and even throw it around the room. These people plan that as soon as both of them win ₹20 lakh. Both will quit the game because they only needed ₹20 lakh. Well, the next day the game music plays which means it was time for stage two. In this stage, both the contestants are asked to open box number one from which they find ear pieces. They will get instructions for the task through this earpiece. Now here only one person will get the task which he has to complete within time and this person cannot tell any other person about his task. In fact, he ca n't even make a gesture. When the time comes, the task will be heard in their EOPs. So after wearing the ear piece, both of them were waiting for the task when suddenly Meera's mother comes to their house. Both of them welcome her and then Meera gets a secret task that she has to cook and feed her mother her favourite food Sambar Rice and that too within 2 hours. Now this was a very simple task. And for this task, Meera had to place a bet with her winning money. And on winning the task, the money bet will be doubled. Here Meera bets ₹3 lakh because making and feeding sambar rice is a very easy task. Now friends, ideally the task was to be given to only one person but Mask lied. He was playing a double game. Here he also gives a task to Arjun saying that he will have to send Meera's mother out of the house within 10 minutes. In such a situation, Arjun makes a call to Meera's mother from outside that her husband has met with an accident. Hearing this, Meera's mother starts crying and leaves the house. But Meera could not leave them because she could not cross the red line of the house. That's why Meera calls a cab for her mother and sends her to the hospital. Now as soon as Meera's mother leaves, the game show music plays and the mask announces that Arjun has won the task. Yes friends, Meera lost 3 lakhs but Arjun won 6 lakhs. Also, the money for likes i.e. the total amount has now become ₹11,73,000. Here Arjun and Meera come to know that both of them had got the task and this upsets Meera because Arjun had told a big lie for this task. Meera said that her mother is a heart patient and she could have died after hearing this news. Meera immediately calls her mom and consoles her saying that someone must have made a prank call to you. Papa has not had any accident. At this point Arjun explains to Meera that it is just a game. There is a task. This should not be linked to personal life. But this thing had become very personal for Meera. And in such a situation, she thinks of crossing the red line and getting out of the game. Arjun stops him and explains that as soon as they make Rs 20 lakh, both of them will quit the game. Meera did not cross the red line but she was adamant on quitting the game. Meanwhile, Arjun gets a notification on his phone that YouTube has restored his original channel which had almost 3 million subscribers. That means friends, both of them could now leave the game and start earning from YouTube again. But here Arjun hides this fact from Meera. In fact, he temporarily deactivates the channel himself so that Meera does not come to know about it. What this will do is that Arjun will be able to convince Meera to play this game show till they win 20 lakhs. Meera also gets convinced and agrees to Arjun's words. Now after this the next task comes for Meera. Where Meera bets Rs 10 lakh from the winning amount. 10 lakhs so that these people can immediately make 20 and leave. The task was that Meera had to make a simple 10-second video within 10 minutes. But that video has to be uploaded on the original channel. Now Meera was feeling that her original channel had taken off. So how will she be able to do this? 10 minutes pass in this thinking and Meera not only loses the task but also loses ₹1 lakh from the amount she had earned. Now when Mask reveals this task to Arjun, Arjun gets upset because Meera had lost Rs 10 lakh. But here Meera blames Mask that this task itself was rigged because how can a video be uploaded on a channel which has already gone off air. Hearing this, Arjun quietly reveals that the channel is back and he knew that if Meera came to know about this, she would want to quit the game show. So, in the greed of earning more money from the game show, Arjun himself deactivated the channel. Hearing this, Meera gets furious and fights start between the couple. Meera says that Arjun is taking this game and task too seriously. And Arjun said that if Meera is not serious then why did she not go with her mother to see her father when she came to know about the accident. Meaning, initially even Meera was thinking that an accident had indeed happened. Still she did not go to see her father. Gave priority to the game. In short, both of them were affecting their personal lives because of the game. They were fighting. No matter how much he says that this is just a game, this is just a task and it has nothing to do with his personal life. Well, the next day was Arjun's birthday and Meera brought a cake for him. Here Meera gives a special gift to Arjun which contains her pregnancy test kit. This reveals that Meera is pregnant. Arjun is very happy with this and in such a situation he goes to give the pendant given by his mother to Meera. Basically, there was a tradition in their house where the pendant was passed on from generation to generation if the woman in the house became pregnant. But the very next moment Arjun stops because he doubts whether this is some kind of task. There is a fight between the two again on this issue and finally Arjun accepts that Meera is really pregnant. He also gives the pendant to Meera. Now Mask also wishes Arjun on his birthday and here Arjun asks Mask that how do these people give so much money to the contestants? Mask says that his private viewers bet on what the game show contestants will do next. And on that basis a lot of money is earned and a part of it is given as a reward. Now as I told you earlier, most probably these games will be shown on the dark web. Where many rich people would be placing beds using their private accounts. Well, along with that, Meera goes into the car and cries because she was fed up with this game. She tells Arjun that in this life, it is important to understand each other in love and games are misleading us. It's no more just a game and hence they should quit the game now. Although these people have not been able to earn as much money as they had thought. Arjun initially doesn't agree to this but after Meera 's repeated cries and requests, he too agrees to quit the game. Both of them go inside the house where on Meera's request, Arjun presses the red button. While doing this, Mask appears on TV and congratulates Meera. Yes friends, this was a task of Meera where she had to get her husband to press the red button, which she achieved by doing great emotional acting. He got ₹2 lakh for this task. Plus you know for 528 likes you get ₹1000. So overall, Meera has won ₹728,000 from this task. But friends, after this task, Arjun was completely upset because Mira had literally played with his emotions. Arjun was very frustrated and in such a situation he takes a test of Meera. Arjun deliberately pretends to faint and Meera takes Arjun in the car to take him to the hospital. But she hesitates before crossing the red line. In such a situation, Arjun stands up and gets very upset because even when it came to his health and his life, Meera was hesitant to cross that red line. That means somewhere the game was still in her mind and perhaps she was giving priority to the game. Meera tries to explain to Arjun that it all happened in the moment. Otherwise, nothing is more important for Meera than Arjun. But friends, Arjun no longer trusted Meera's words at all. Then Mask comes on TV and talks about the last stage and the name of this task was Read the Book Backwards. That means here the past matters of both of them will be revealed. Meanwhile, Meera talks to Mask and she tells him how before Arjun, she had a boyfriend named Varun and Varun had cheated on Meera. After being cheated, Meera felt that she would not find anyone in her life. His life is ruined. But then she met Arjun and all her happiness returned. That is why Arjun is really most important for Meera and she can do anything for Arjun. Meanwhile, Arjun opens the gift box and finds a light screen inside it. As the timer reaches zero, an alarm rings throughout the house and Meera sees that Arjun has opened the gift. This means that the amount they won will be halved and their past will now be revealed to them. In anger, Meera also presses the green button on the buzzer so that both of them can now know each other's entire past. So for the task, Meera is shown four college group photos in which she has to find Arjun. Meera takes a guess that it is Arjun but her guess turns out to be wrong. Arjun then asks which medical condition Meera has been battling for a long time? Meaning, for what did she take treatment? First option is viral fever, second option is mental stress, third is severe colic and fourth is none of the above. Arjun says that Meera had a boyfriend earlier who cheated on her. Therefore, Meera must have been mostly under mental stress. This answer of Arjun was also wrong because the correct answer was None of the Above. So clearly these two did not know everything about each other's past. Now Arjun wanted to know about Meera's past. I wanted to know about his illness. And in such a situation, Arjun secretly starts making random calls to Meera's friend saying that he has come to know about Meera's past medical record. And he is supportive of her. Hearing all this, some of Meera's friends get confused. But then a friend reveals that Meera had an abortion before marriage. Yes friends, Arjun was shocked to hear this and here he comes to know that when Mira broke up with Varun, Mira was pregnant. In such a situation, Meera had to have an abortion and perhaps this is the reason why Meera continues to struggle with pregnancy even today and that is why we saw cuts on her hands etc. in the initial scenes because she must have been very depressed about this. Knowing this, Arjun gets completely enraged and he shouts at Meera. Meera says that she was going to tell this to Arjun but she could not muster the courage in the last 4 years. By this point, their relationship had completely deteriorated and upset, Meera lies down in the bathtub with her clothes on. Now Arjun comes here and even tries to drown Meera. Alldo en time pe Meera leaves. Arjun says sorry to Meera and Meera could not understand why Arjun did this to her? Did he get this task or did Arjun really do this out of anger? Arjun does not answer this. He was just trying to convince Meera by saying sorry. Now at this point comes the final task which was that Arjun and Aamira had to recreate an old video of theirs in 10 minutes in which both of them were very lovey-dovey with each other. Now, in the circumstances here, getting into love and recreating the video was a far- fetched idea. Meera was not mentally stable at all and she was not able to do this and hence this task could not be completed and ultimately both of them lost the game. Mask says goodbye to both of them but before leaving, Mira asks Mask whether what happened in the bathtub was a task ? The mask doesn't reveal anything here. He just says all the best and leaves. So friends, after this game show, the relationship between Meera and Arjun was completely broken and both of them became isolated from each other. So much so that Meera thinks of going to her mother's house. But then the rent collectors come to their house and Meera Arjun did not have the money. Why? Because these people had lost the game show. All the money was lost. In such a situation, the goons think of removing Meera's dupatta and making a video. But then Arjun fights with the goons and here he gives his car to these goons instead of money. After this incident, the relationship between these two improves a bit. But Meera was still asking Arjun whether Arjun was drowning her in the bathtub because of the task ? Before Arjun could answer, a family friend of his named Arun comes to his house. Arun had come to ask for ₹15 lakh from both of them and for this he was mortgaging a necklace worth ₹20 lakh because Arul's daughter was to undergo a heart operation for which he needed money. Arjun clearly says that his condition itself is tight. So in such a situation, from where will he give Rs 15 lakh to Arul? Hearing this, Arun starts leaving the house when Arjun gets a call from a private number. Yes friends, this call was from Mask and Mask says that season two of the game has started. If Arjun wants to win Rs 2 crore by playing the game for two days , then his first task is to stop Arun. Not just stopping him, Arjun has to somehow keep Arul in his house till 6:00 pm tomorrow. Now since Arjun was also in dire need of money, he comes in front of Arun's car before leaving his house. Arjun lies to Arun that he has talked to his friend and his friend will bring Rs 15 lakh by tomorrow evening. Till then Arun can stay at their house. Hearing this, Arun becomes happy and he also gives his necklace worth Rs 20 lakh to Arjun. Going to Arul's guest room, Arjun tells Meera that the game is back on and here he puts on the old earpiece. Mask welcomes Arjun and Meera in season 2 which is going to be darker and deeper. Alldo, the game here will run for only two days and within these two days people can win Rs 2 crore. Their task was to keep Arul inside the house till 6:00 pm tomorrow without informing him. Now after some time, Arjun gets a private task where he had to make Arun cry by doing anything. In such a situation, Arjun goes to the terrace to talk to Arul and starts asking how Arul reached this condition? Arul says that till last year he was doing a turnover of Rs 7 to 8 crore. But then he trusted a man who betrayed him. As a result, Arul lost all his money. In fact, he is currently under a lot of debt. His daughter is in the hospital for heart surgery. And Arul cannot go there either. Why? Because those from whom he has borrowed are waiting for him there. Currently, Arul 's mother is with Arul's daughter Divya and Arul wants to save his daughter by collecting Rs 15 lakh within 2 days and getting her operated. Then Arjun is doing some task. where he replaces the contents of the bag with a box from the game show. Well, the next morning a new task comes before Meera and Arjun, which Meera had to do. Basically, Meera had to be romantic and seduce Arun. Here Meera was not supposed to have physical relations. Just wanted to seduce. Now of course, hearing this both Meera and Arjun get angry and say no. The mask gives them time until evening to think and complete the task. People were betting on this task where most people believed that these people would do the task. At the same time, Arjun was repeatedly thinking that he had promised to give Rs 15 lakh to Arun. That means after 6:00 pm Arun will come to know that Arjun was unnecessarily passing time by keeping her at home and if Arun is not able to arrange money even after going somewhere else then his daughter will also not be saved. Troubled by all these thoughts, Arjun tells Meera that if Meera seduces Arun, he will get Rs 2 crore. Out of that, Arjun will give Rs 15 lakh to Arun so that Arun's daughter will be saved. That means, by completing this task, these people will not only save the life of Arun's daughter Divya but will also save their own lives because they also have to pay the EMI. Goons come to collect money. Arjun also says that for the first task of the first game, Meera had made a reel which was a bit bold. So she can do seduction again. Meera was very angry after hearing all this because she did not want to do this at all. Meanwhile, Arjun gets a call from Arul's mother saying that Divya has suffered a heart attack and her operation must be done immediately or else she will not survive. And at this point Arjun had to somehow arrange the money and he asks Meera to complete the task. Initially, Meera was not agreeing to this but at one point she also starts getting forced. So there were only 2 hours and 40 minutes left for the time to end and here come some new rules. First, Arjun will not return the bag containing the necklace to Arun under any circumstances. Secondly, Arjun cannot make any outgoing calls now. Number three, the yellow line in their house before the red line is their new red line. That means these people cannot cross the yellow line before 6:00 pm. Well, first of all Arjun makes Arul drunk by giving him some drinks. Then Meera gets dressed up and starts talking nicely to Arul. She was quite uncomfortable. But while talking she touches Arul's hand. Arul realizes that Meera is coming towards him and starts moving away a little. Arjun, who was watching all this, breaks the glass in his hand in anger. After this, Meera goes to Arul's room and starts moving towards him and Arul refuses saying that all this is wrong. Still Meera was moving towards him. She was praising him and in such a situation Arul finally moves towards Meera. That means Arul got a deuce and Meera's task ended here. As the task ends, Meera steps back and tells Arul that he is a gentleman. During all this, Arjun was listening to everything by putting his ear outside the door. Well, as soon as Meera comes out, Arjun gets angry at her saying why was Meera saying nice things to Arun? Does she mean all this? Meera gets angry at Arjun saying that you were the one who sent me to Arun as a task and now you are shouting at me. A fight breaks out between them and then Arun arrives who had overheard their conversation. Yes friends, Arun is now angry at how these two are playing games with his life. Arun says he needs to leave immediately and asks for his bag back. Arjun tries to stop him and an angry Arun reveals that Arjun had deceived Meera. Yes friends, Arun tells how Arjun took help from him to frame Miras last boyfriend Varun. It was Arjun who sent a girl to Varun and got a police raid done at his house due to which Varun was arrested and only after that the relationship between Meera and Varun ended. After that Arjun became Meera's support and then fell in love with her and married her. Hearing this, Meera was shocked and she started crying because somewhere Arjun had played with her life. I mean, because of all this, Meera even got an abortion done. Arjun starts saying that he did not know earlier that Meera was pregnant otherwise he would not have done this. In a way, a game was played between Arjun and Varun for Meera, which Arjun won. Amidst all this, Arjun also slaps Arul. Now Arul gets a call from his mother who tells him that she urgently needs money for the operation. In such a situation, Arul starts asking for his bag back. Both of them take him to the terrace and give him the location of the bag. But friends, the contents of this bag had changed last night itself. Meaning where is the real defeat? Only Arjun knows that. In fact, inside this bag, there was not a necklace but a gun. Arul takes out a gun and points it at Arjun and Meera and there is online betting going on as to whom Arul will kill. Both of them ask Arul to put down the gun. Yes friends, both of them were so engrossed in the game that a man in front of them was getting eliminated and these people were watching the time. At 6:00, finally both of them go to Arul but it was too late. It was over. Now the interesting part was that Arul had us audience see the same EOPs that Arjun and Meera had.
