Now, I'm looking forward to it. Uh, it's always got a a good ring to it. Some uh some good memories myself as a player against City and uh a big game today. >> Do you think they are as as close as they have been over the last what 10 years or so since since Guardiola came in and and really established himself? >> No, I still think you look at City with the squad they have and of course with uh with Harden up front, you still think City obviously have got a stronger group. It obviously is it's going to be interesting over the next few months with obviously Pep leaving and people like Rodri leaving who were like played a huge part in City's success. So, United should be encouraged a little bit if they're going to get a bit closer to City this season, then uh hopefully they can do that starting today. >> It's it's a difficult one. It's a derby. It's always difficult to predict, but this one particularly Michael, a new manager in the in the away dugout and there's big changes in the in the squads as well, significant changes. >> Yeah, Roy's right there. If you look at midfield, Rodri was massive, Bernardo Silva too. I I watched Man City in the Champions League and Bwadi was outstanding. I was a little bit nervous in how they're going to set up with Anderson and Enzo. I think they both want to take too many chances too early in terms of crashing the box and getting forward. But when I seen Bwadi playing that position, even though he is still 18, I thought of them they can start to build a structure there now. But in terms of the manager, it's always going to be difficult, you know, Pep. He He was a man. He's a legend. He changed football in this country. So, to go after that, it's always going to be difficult, but he's at a a good start. >> Will Bwadi play? >> Well, that's that's the thing is cuz he went with Anderson and then he went with Enzo and then he went with Cherki in front. And at times on the ball, it looks amazing. One touch, two touch, it looks phenomenal. But then in transition, it looked very light. >> Well, listen, we'll get into the the details of that a bit a bit later on because we're going to hear from a couple of the the City new City midfielders as well and and focus on that that midfield match up in in a bit more detail. But it just to go back to to Roy's point, you look at the the difference between the two squads. You look at City losing Pep Guardiola and and bringing in Enzo Maresca. Although they've had the perfect start to the the Premier League season. I just look at the the results since since Michael Carrick came in. There's not much in it at all. In fact, it's almost identical the record between Manchester United and and Manchester City. >> No, I mean look Michael's record has been outstanding particularly here at Old Trafford. Uh They've been brilliant here, very difficult to beat. Um and the results haven't been that bad away from home, but I think obviously the start of the season this is pivotal today in respect of how people view United start the season. If we were to drop points today, it would be a bad start. If they win, then you say they're back on track. But up until now, Michael Carrick's record has been excellent and uh he's going to keep that going. This is probably the most pressure and most probably scrutiny he's been under. >> And it and it's and he is under scrutiny at the moment as they get to the the start of get through the start of this this season. It's a fresh start and there there is there is expectation because it has started as as well as it has. And you've been you've been cautious >> about him, right? >> I have been, but I still think it's a good game for United. It's it's like when he got the job, again there's obviously question marks and every time he slips up there's going to be a pressure building. But I think it's also a good game for Carrick today. He he done that when he got the job, got some big results, got some momentum in in the home record has been brilliant. So I think it's a good game for United. Yeah, they they had a sticky start particularly obviously with the whole game, but if we can see what Hull have done recently, obviously doing very very well. So as soon as you when they start slipping up, that's when the pressure will build, but I think it's a good game for United. I still think there's positives going forward. But the big hang-up for United at this moment in time of course and it will continue to be so for the next few months is the goals and the chances they're giving up. That will just keep holding United back. But in terms of going forward and as a goal threat, I think it's kind of exciting. >> When you you look at the the record over the the last 10 seasons between the the two sides. I mean there's there's that's where there is no comparison, Michael. And and how much can City take from that? How much does that matter in a in a game like today? >> It's hard to you can't take it obviously. It you confidence, but I remember when I was a an underdog coming into this fixture and we we we beat Man United. This game is a different fixture. Forget about all the stats and everything going into the >> When was that like? >> >> The 6-1. The 6-1, YEAH. DO YOU REMEMBER THAT GAME? >> >> AND YOU CAN BE MAN OF THE MATCH IN THAT GAME AS WELL. >> Did I? >> Yeah, you you you'd retired by then. Uh there was the 1-0 at the Etihad. And it's one that we discussed so many times. >> You weren't You weren't underdogs in the 6-1. You weren't underdogs at that point. You were starting to emerge then, I think. >> What's going on? We've not won the the Premier League in how many years? I've got You were reigning champions, come on. >> We we were underdogs. And then go back to the Munich disaster there. We came here and we won with all the the shirts. We were underdogs in that game. And and we still won. >> You were that day. >> Yeah. >> Who's underdogs today? >> Uh >> Good question, that. >> But that that was that was kind of where we started with with looking at how far apart these these two sides are. Who do you think will will come into this and think what >> Well, United are underdogs, aren't they? If they are >> I mean, that's that's the clip we WANTED TO GET. >> >> UNITED ARE UNDERDOGS HERE. They're not They've done better of late, and Carrick, I think, has has done a a really good job. But there's there's still rises actually. There's still flaws in their game. They was building something where they was defensively and on transition was very good. I watched the game against somebody the other day. There was massive holes everywhere, and they had to be on the ascendancy with the person with the ball, and they found it a little bit difficult. I think if they go back to the old way from last season, go drop deep, and then try to hit Man City on the counterattack, that's the best way they can win the game. >> Yeah, both strengths for both teams, I think, obviously, their midfield and their attacking players. Quite huge question marks, obviously, United's back four, maybe not so much with City's, but even they're giving up opportunities, so I think it could be any score today. There would be absolutely plenty of chances, whether the teams take them or not. Um but in in terms of the attacking players, that is the strength of both teams today, I think. >> I mean, that that's so often the case is that the best games aren't necessarily the perfect games. They're the ones in which there are mistakes and in which there there are particularly um defensive holes. >> Yeah, and I hope that Enzo Fernandez and Anderson play in midfield today as a two. I don't know whether he might bring McTominay or O'Reilly alongside Anderson and shove Enzo Fernandez up forward one and make it a little bit more solid and I think that would make it more difficult for United to win the match. But I think if Enzo and Anderson play in midfield, the United play how we know they're going to play. I do think it'll be end to end and there'll be chances galore and it will be exciting. >> Is there a way for either side to take control of this game, do you think, Roy? >> Well, obviously this is where the the midfield battle comes in. We obviously don't know the starting teams yet. I think if you're going to win any big game, you've got to try and dominate midfield, so that's where the the battles are going to be. Um, like we look at United defensively, how poor they've been, but is that are we going to look at that as that's just down to the back four and the goalkeeper or is it an issue with the team? You know, because again, going forward and the threats that United have are very very good. I'm convinced United will definitely score a goal today, possibly two. But the issues are at the back. Is that a defensive problem or is it a team problem? Cuz we we haven't discussed the how to stop a football team scoring goals. United are scoring goals and they're creating chances and obviously same for Man City. So, how they can't fix this idea of of being tight up. I don't mean keeping clean sheets every week, but not conceding two and giving up loads of chances. And that's where that will just keep holding this United team back. We praise Carrick, he's brought in Steve Holland with him. Obviously, he knows how to set teams up. He's got Jonny Evans with him. He's got Woodgate, ex-defenders. So, how they can't sort this out. Obviously, there was talk about getting defenders in. The window's closed now. So, they've got to sort that out. Everyone's talking about the problems. It's up to the manager and the staff to try and fix that. Cuz they're we're talking about that back four that we think will start today. They're experienced international players. Yet, none of us believe for one second United will keep a clean sheet today. We already feel they're going to give up loads of chances. So, is that just on the back four or is it on the whole team?
