Do you know that from the morning of 21st November 2025, the way of working in India has changed forever. Whether your salary is Rs 10,000 or Rs 10 lakh. Whether you work in a big MAC, work in a shop or are a gig worker like Zomato Uber. There is going to be a huge impact on both your pocket and your job. Yes, the biggest labour law reform in the history of India has now been implemented. Everything from your take home salary to your working hours has changed. If you do not understand these rules, you may cause great harm to yourself. So in today's video we will decode these new rules and know what direct benefits and losses you will get from it. So let's get started without any delay. Hello, I am Abhishek Anand and you are associated with the digital platform of Prabhat Khabar. First of all let us understand what is this change ? Prime Minister Narendra Modi has abolished the 29-year-old complex labor law. Now only four new codes have replaced them. These laws were passed by the Parliament in 2020 itself, but they have been officially implemented now. What are these four pillars? First Code of Wages. It is directly related to your salary, bonus and allowances. Second is Industrial Relations Code i.e. the relationship and rules between the company and the employee. Third Code on Social Security. It includes facilities like PF, pension and insurance. And the fourth is occupational safety code, that is, the safety and health of the place where you work. The government claims that this is not just a rule but a historic change in the lives of 40 crore workers of India. Now let's come to the most important thing. What will a common employee get from this ? Let's look at them one by one. Benefit number one is guaranteed minimum wage. Now every employee in the country has a legal guarantee of getting minimum wages on time. Earlier, monthly salaries were withheld or delayed. But this will not work now. Your money will come into your account at the right time. Benefit number two: Appointment letter has been made mandatory. Often people started jobs without any paperwork. Now it is mandatory to give you the appointment letter as soon as you join. This will protect your rights and no one can hire you without proof. Benefit number three: equal pay for women. It is now illegal to discriminate in salary based on gender. Women have full right to equal pay as men. Benefit number four is that everyone will get social security. More than half of India's workforce came under the ambit of social security for the first time. Whether you are a gig worker or a contract labourer, everyone now has the right to PF, ESIC, insurance and pension. Benefit number five, free health checkup. This is a great gift. If you are above 40 years of age, you will get a free health checkup once a year, the cost of which will be borne by the employer. Benefit number six: better graduation. Earlier, gratuity was calculated only on basic salary. Now it will be calculated on the basis of full salary. This means that you will now have more money in your pocket after retirement or leaving your job. Benefit number seven: Double money for overtime. If you are working hard for long hours , doing more work, then you will get double the salary. Every minute of your hard work is precious now. Benefit number eight: Security for gig workers. This is a game changer for peers like Uber, Ola, Amazon, Zomato. For the first time, you will receive social security. Aggregator companies will have to deposit 1 to 2% of their earnings into the welfare fund which will be useful to you. Now let us understand the other side of the coin. If you run a business or are in HR, what changes have you seen? First, the legal burden has reduced. Earlier you had to fill registers of 29 different laws. Now there are only four courses. This will reduce paperwork. This is a new definition for second salary. Earlier the definition of salary for PF was different. Separate for bonuses. Now there will be same definition of wages across the country. This will make compliance much easier. Third, fixed term employment. Now contract employees will also have to be given the same facilities as permanent employees. You cannot discriminate. And fourth, transparency. You cannot hide any terms or conditions. You must explain everything clearly and in writing. Now an important question. Is India keeping pace with the world? The answer is yes and in some cases India has taken the lead. Experts believe that introducing social security for gig workers is a step that has not yet been fully implemented even in many developed countries. Also, this is a strong step of India towards One Nation One Law. If you are the owner or manager of a company, then note this. You need to make these four changes to your HR policies immediately. First, review the job description. Which employee comes under which code. Second, change the salary structure. You should change the salary breakup according to the new definition. Third, make separate strategies for permanent contract and gig workers. And fourth, update the rules on working hours, overtime, leave and discipline. The government has said that its detailed rules will be released in the next 5 to 7 days. But amidst all this, there is a page here. These laws belong to the Central Government. But it is the responsibility of the state to implement them. Each state will have to make its own rules. Many states have prepared the draft. But the final notification is still awaited. Therefore, in the coming weeks, you have to keep an eye on the news of your state also. It may be a little difficult for our small and medium traders, i.e. MSME partners, because now they too will have to follow strict rules which may increase the costs. But the good news is that instead of 29 laws, there will now be only four codes and this will reduce the fear of inspectors and compliance will become easier. The government has promised to provide full support and guidance in this transition. Now the question is, will everything be perfect? Probably not. There are some challenges too. Such as implementation. It will take time for the rules to be implemented in such a big country. Lack of awareness. Currently, many employees and employers are not aware of their rights. The burden of small companies. Small companies may face financial difficulties in following all the sudden rules and state coordination may create confusion due to different rules in different states. Nevertheless, this is a very necessary and positive beginning. Before the video ends, I have some advice for you. If you are an employee, know your rights, Google it and read it. If you do not have an appointment letter, ask for it from HR today. Check your salary slip in the coming days. Check if it is in compliance with the new rules and if you are an employer, immediately train your HR and accounts team. Update the salary structure so that there is no legal hassle later. Hold meetings with employees to inform them about the new changes and gig workers should ask their aggregator when the welfare fund will start and how they can register.
