hi my name is aaron with superior singing method and this is falsetto okay falsetto so what even is falsetto it's a little hard to explain sometimes because falsetto and head voice can can often sound similar and it feels similar but it feels a little bit different so i'm going to try and kind of walk through this and and explain it to you oh but don't let me forget at the end of this video i got a free gift for you so stick around but um i wanted i want to tackle this falsetto first so what is singing what is the goal of singing in general singing is basically sustained speech it's just like as i'm talking now if you can talk you can sing because singing is just sustained speech now there are some exercises and some techniques that will help you to sing better and better but if you can talk you can sing because it's just sustained speech it's just holding out speech for for a little longer and usually it's more on the vowels than it is on the consonants because you can't be like you know smalling you get the idea so it's it's this singing a sustained speech while keeping the chords together your vocal chords together and keeping them safe and not having them blow apart i know this may sound a little bit technical depending where you are in your in your singing journey but what you wanted what singing is you're having air go through your vocal cords and vibrate and they're vibrating the chords and in the larynx you're getting that sound that's like resonating all in the larynx and all in the in your vocal tract now falsetto is is actually a blowing apart of your vocal cords so and that's you're not supposed to do that falsetto is actually technically not great technical singing but it's great stylistically you know it can be great stylistically if you listen to bands like whatever you listen to just basically all of your artists at some point they jump into falsetto as a way of like as a stylistic technique it's not like this it's not as like this is technically beautiful singing you won't hear opera singers going to falsetto and part of the reason for that is that all the notes in falsetto so like falsetto is like that's falsetto and you can hear it's a little bit airy but once you develop your head voice more in those higher notes it can be like ah thoughts dot falsetto that's head voice you can hear the difference it's less airy it's a little more connected and the reason for that and the reason why i'm saying this is that you know opera singers and like technically really great singers they they're all the notes that you can hit in falsetto because some people have to hit it in falsetto because they haven't developed their head voice to hit that high of a note yet in their actual strong head voice that's supported and sounds powerful so they'll just hit it in falsetto so that's like again that's technical classically the way to do it but a lot of people want to just pop into falsetto in and out of falsetto like um uh whatever whatever the song is they'll want to jump into it just stylistically because it sounds kind of cool even though it's not technically great singing so i'm making sense here so you don't want your chords ever really blow apart but if you want to stylistically add a little bit of falsetto into your singing it is a blowing apart of your chords but i also want to want you to know that developing your head voice into those higher notes will be great because you want to also be able to sing those high notes that are supported with your breath that are supported with your vocal chords that are supported with your vocal cords together and vibrating the way they're the way they're created to and have a nice powerful sound in those higher notes that's ultimately the goal but again falsetto is fun and it could sound really cool as a stylistic note okay are we clear about clear's mud here so let's get into this exercise this exercise we're going to start with o and we're going to start o down like your chest-ish range and then we're going to go to ah o is a nice close vowel oh it's a little easier to get through your different registers with the nice close vowel then we're going to ah which is a little harder to not have your vocal cords blow apart when you're doing the ah but that's kind of the point because when we get to the ah we wanna have the vocal chords blow apart a little bit don't don't do this too hard you don't wanna hurt your voice this is more just do this nice and light and remember light is right it's okay you can add some more weight you can add some more volume later but for now we're just we're just testing this out so i'm gonna do it and then uh you can try it afterwards and this is a bit of an advanced exercise if you're like oh this is so hard work up to this i've got a bunch of other videos you can work up to this but it's basically going to be like this it's going to be my falsetto now you could hear that's a little more airy up there right if i wanted to i could stay in my head voice and it would sound like this if you're wanting to if you are more into it more of an advanced thing or you want to strengthen that head voice it could sound a little something like this let's see if i can do it see that's my head voice it's a little more supported it's a little more you can see it sounds a little more uh gritty a little more connected and that's that's good too so this will help you get into falsetto if you want to get into falsetto as a stylistic thing and it's also going to help you strengthen that head voice because what happens is that transition between chest and head voice right there your chest voice needs something to connect with and as we do this it's going to strengthen the lower portion of your head voice gives your chest voice something connect something to connect with and so what this will also do is help you smooth out your registers to give you one nice long one nice full blended voice which is ultimately one of the goals of singing too it's not to have all these cracks and breaks in between which you know it happens for a lot of beginner and even intermediate singers but eventually you want a nice blended voice to where you're going get into your falsetto right there so hopefully that's helpful but as promised i've got um a free gift for you i've created a quiz to help you find what
