The video titled "Spiritual Warfare Class 10," presented by Epic Church International, lasts for 54 minutes and covers significant themes related to the concept of spiritual warfare, particularly focusing on the "wilderness experience" as exemplified by biblical figures, particularly Jesus.
Wilderness Experience:
Biblical References:
Affirmation Before Trials:
"He is fully affirmed by the Father in what's about to happen."
Leading of the Spirit:
Internal Struggles:
Purpose of the Wilderness:
Understanding Trials:
Historical Examples:
Satan's Deceptions:
Faith and Perseverance:
"He never leaves you; he never forsakes you."
The video provides an in-depth examination of the wilderness experience as a critical aspect of spiritual warfare. By using Jesus' experiences as a foundation, the speaker encourages viewers to embrace their own challenges as opportunities for growth, guided by the Holy Spirit. The key takeaway is that spiritual warfare is not merely about external battles but also about the internal struggle to remain true to one’s identity and purpose in God.
hello and welcome to class 10 of spiritual warfare let's pray and get started father once again we come to you in the name of jesus and oh we're so grateful for this opportunity that we have to study your word we open our hearts and our minds to hear from your spirit and we allow ourselves to give place father putting aside our own thoughts and opinions the cares and the thoughts of the day and we give place to your word first and foremost during this time right now we thank you for what we will learn and we thank you for the power to live in accordance with it in jesus name amen amen all right so you finished looking through your outlines and you also got a follow-up outline for wilderness okay the wilderness experience we're going to be talking about that today um interesting um how this this particular lesson came about for me was some years ago i was out west with my sister we were traveling and doing some visiting in the national parks and so we had to drive across the desert and as we were driving across the desert at one point we said let's get out of the car one road across the desert there is nothing as far as the eye can see in any direction but you know desert some things here some things there you know some of the uh the outcroppings of the rocks structures like that and so we get out i get out of the car and i go to step away and i felt like this like almost like the wind sucked out of my lungs as we as as i looked out and i was like oh my gosh it was so vast and so huge with nothing to give me any markers as to where i was what anything was and this kind of you know i grew up in the city you know so there's a building you measure things in sewers and in blocks and in you know distances like that how many buildings there was nothing here there were no telephone poles there was nothing and i thought oh my gosh and that was a beginning of god showing me some things about the wilderness experience because i had heard this expression oh i'm in a wilderness experience well this one's in a wilderness experience and all i know is it sounded like a place i didn't want to be so i was like this is not some place i really want to be but i didn't understand what it was so i began to do some study on what the wilderness experience was i began to do some study on just what the bible had to say about this particular subject and here's some things that i found that were that are really important and very vital i think to our understanding of how do we stand and the the issue of spiritual warfare because remember as we talked about most of what i'm fighting is just to keep me in place to stay off the attacks of the evil one to not allow my mind to be tempered with in such a way to compromise what i was called to do who i am called to be by god just the fact that i am a child of god is under attack at all times so what does this experience happen and it seems to be a part of the lives of very significant bible figures the most important obviously being jesus himself and you know i've heard different teachings as a young christian or different you know interpretations of that wilderness experience that jesus had but it never kind of like this just i don't see jesus as as this weak person or this obviously what does and what did this have to do with who he was and where he was going obviously this is significant because we find it in three out of the four gospels all right so three times you know we have record of this in three of the gospels so there's something significant here um before this experience occurs we see in luke chapter 3 verse 22 that jesus is baptized by john the baptist he is affirmed by the father let's take a look here because i think it is important to understand um how jesus walks into this situation so that we never misunderstand or misinterpret what's happening here he's not being dragged here he's not being let dropped here and left here to fend for himself it you know there's something very deliberate that's happening here so if we look at chapter 3 verse 22 it says so so i'm going to start back it up to verse 21. now when all the people were baptized it came to pass that jesus also being baptized and praying the heaven was open all right and the holy ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him and a voice came from heaven which said thou art my beloved son in thee i am well pleased in the new living translation it says i am fully pleased with you so this is an important communication from the father especially given what is about to happen now again remember this is i'm coming from the vantage point of understanding what this is when i'm hearing about wilderness experiences i don't i the communication almost is you did something wrong and now god is turning you out into this desert place to almost like as a penance to figure out what you did wrong and then fix it this is kind of how the impression i was under which just didn't sit well with me so i'm like okay so let's look at what happened with jesus and see he says i am fully pleased with you in whom i am well pleased we start out before he even enters into this experience with affirmation from the father he is fully affirmed by the father in what's about to happen god has created each of us with a purpose and he has if we could use the expressive expression downloaded that purpose in each one of us right from the very start of our lives from inception each of us has a destiny a plan and a purpose to fulfill that we were especially created for all right and that plays into what this experience is going to bring so we've already you know at various times in our teachings and we've talked about the fact that jesus knew who he was he knew what he was here for etc he understood that all right so let's move to luke the fourth chapter verses 1-13 okay and jesus being full of the holy ghost okay he's full of the holy ghost right returned from jordan and was led by the spirit now it's the word by there sometimes little words carry some significant meaning the efficient cause emanating from within in other words the cause of this was coming from within him and that was the holy spirit who we see already as coming to dwell with him remember he walked like a man filled with the spirit of god so now that man filled with the spirit of god is being led by that spirit into this situation he's being led into the wilderness he's not being kicked into the wilderness he's not being abandoned into the wilderness he didn't do anything wrong nothing okay nothing was wrong the reason i'm pointing this out is because sometimes we feel like we're in a place and we're going to describe what this experience is like in more detail as we go along but sometimes we feel like we're in a place that's dry that the thing that that hit me in the desert is as i looked around it could have been any year any time it could have been prehistoric i could have seen a spaceship fly in and land i could have seen a covered wagon go by i could have seen anything there was nothing in the wilderness itself okay in the desert itself to give me a marker as to a year a time my place in this place are you catching what i'm saying sometimes we feel like who am i and where am i at this moment we feel nothing affirming or denying almost nothing to tell us okay you're going in the right direction or you're not going in the right direction there is nothing to tell us time no feedback nothing in in in a situation like that like that's what i saw in the desert this is what we experience in the wilderness there is nothing there so his leading was from within by the holy spirit like when we are in a situation and we'll flesh this out as we go along that we don't really fully comprehend where we are there's nothing you know to the right or to the left that's telling me anything i have to go by the leading of his spirit within me that's the voice i'm listening for that's the voice i'm listening to that one that will guide me and direct me when there's nothing else to tell me which way i should go okay and this is important because this is how we learn to be led by the spirit incrementally sometimes this is not a once and for all experience for the most part you will have these times that you feel this way but understand what it's for and make full use of it because what we're going to see take a little bit of the cat out of the bed here when jesus emerges from the wilderness he does so in the power of the spirit so this experience is not one to beat you down because that's kind of the impression i always got like that punishment thing you better know what you did wrong no the scripture is showing me that as jesus emerges from this situation he emerges in the power of the spirit so i want to be able to take full advantage of a situation or an experience that doesn't really always feel very good why let we're going to find out as we go through this because we need to learn to stand and not let ourselves be pushed around all right by what's occurring so um let's just read through this we're going to read through this rendition of it again it occurs in you see it in luke mark and matthew obviously we don't see it in the book of john why because in the book of john jesus is being communicated as the son of god son of god this experience doesn't really map to that presentation but it does to the presentations of luke mark and matthew okay so being 40 days tempted of the devil and in those days he did he didn't eat anything and when they ended afterward he hungered so he's 40 days in the desert and he's being tempted we don't have all the details to his time in the desert but we do know obviously that there was confrontation of some sort going on the details of which we don't have we have some of them and the devil said to him if you be the son of man command this stone that it be made bread and jesus answered him saying it is written that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of god and the devil taking him up to a high mountain showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time and the devil says to him all this power i will give to you and the glory of them for that is delivered unto me and whoever i will i can give it to them if you therefore will worship me i'll give it all to you he's still saying the same things to people give you everything just worship me and jesus answered and said to him get thee behind me satan for it is written you shall worship the lord your god and him only shall you sir and he brought jesus up to into jerusalem and he sets him on the pinnacle of the temple and says to him if you be the son of god cast yourself down from here because it is written he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee and in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time you should dash your foot against a stone and jesus answering said to him it is said you shall not tempt the lord your god and when the devil had ended all the temptation he departed him for a season he departs for a time but as i said to you before and we've talked about this over and over again it's for a time he's not done and jesus returned in the power of the spirit and we'll talk about that word power is that word dunamis galil to galilee and there went out of fame of him throughout all the region roundabout okay so he is led in the book of mark the book the it's uh it's in mark chapter one and it's in verses nine excuse me nine through thirteen mark one oops mark one nine through thirteen which you have obviously on your outline and when it covers it here interesting um so in in chapter 1 verse 10 and straight away coming up out of the water he saw the heavens open and the spirit like dubbed descending on him and there came a voice from heaven saying you are my beloved son in whom i am well pleased you see how it's saving this yet again and immediately the spirit driveth him or drove him into the wilderness that's kind of characteristic of mark action that that you know that thing of moving the servant who's always on the movement always about to do something but that word driveth here according to one of my sources uh says the the word is being used to give you some information as to the character of the leading in other words in other words what kind of was the mode of this or the mojo of this leading it was a driving it was a clear not a driving in a negative sense not like a whipping driving not like a pushing and shoving driving but a driving of its intention again that is characteristic of the book of mark where jesus moves with intention the servant okay intention end with purpose so this word drive it gives us the sense of purpose of determination that there is a an end at the end of this that needs to be achieved so he's looking toward achieving something if i could put it that way and then matthew back to the term lead so luke and matthew talk about lead mark uses the word driveth okay so um it was god's plan clearly for him to go this was not a punishment this was not something that was being done because he had done something wrong okay i think that's really important um for us to recognize because if we're going to identify with this experience we need to identify with it correctly and respond to it correctly okay i've given you some um definitions of the words there uh look them up and and then you can kind of go over some of those definitions just for clarity or to embellish on some of the meaning um in matthew the word is to uh means to lead up to lead or to bring to a higher place okay so there's again the the communication that this leading would wind up in a higher place a better place again that word drive it uh to cast forth with a suggestion of force hence to drive out or forth this intention there a suggestion of of a of a driving force of sort but remember coming from within hand you put the three together you don't take them all separately as well you put them together so there's an intention that comes from the spirit to move him toward that destination for a specific and clear purpose okay um the wilderness an uninhabited place a desert place desolate deserted lonely again focusing as you see on your outline in luke 4 14 jesus returns in the power of the spirit to galilee and then the fame goes out um in matthew 4 11 in that communication of that portion of scripture when the devil left him angels came and ministered to him whatever was whatever he needed god was going to provide and that's significant because we're going to talk about that the provision and what the devil tries to do in terms of provision all right the word power being the word dunamis strength power ability and we've discussed that through different courses and even within this course um some of the meanings that are there have you have it on your outline but kind of focus on the power for performing miracles moral power and excellence of soul the power and influence which belong influence excuse me which belong to riches and well so there is a power and influence something that is being communicated here he returns in the power of the spirit the power to influence the power for miracles the power for excellence of soul excellence the holy spirit the holy spirit empowers me to have the an excellence of soul of thinking of my mind clarity to keep me from sin and to keep me on track with what god wants for me as well as from me to do and to be but that excellence of soul you have excellence of soul because of the presence of the holy spirit okay in genesis 14 god tells abraham to get everything that he has together and leave for a land he will show him he didn't show abraham first he told him to go to this place and and i'll tell you kind of like i'll tell you when you get there well where am i going i'll let you know i'll let you know when you get there you know he had to listen if abraham didn't know where he was going all right he had to be being led by god through each step and stage of it because the only way you can map out your route is by knowing where you're starting and where you're going to end and then you map out your course depending on that right so if he doesn't know where he's going how does he know which direction to go does he go north south east west northeast southwest he doesn't know so god is going to lead him from the first step just like he will lead you from the first step you take with him he is always leading you whether you realize it or not he is always working with you always leading you okay um we see in exodus chapter 2 verses 1 through 16 where moses kills the egyptian why because moses has a sense of destiny about himself there is something that he is sensing within himself all right moses we've kind of skipped on to moses here in exodus moses has that sense of something beyond where he is right now something beyond the way he's been raised the life he has been living so now he has a sense of something different and he gets into that encounter and he kills the egyptian okay but we see in in exodus 3 verses 2 through 10 that's where we see moses actually commissioned let's take a quick look over there that's exodus chapter 3 exodus chapter 3 verses 2-10 and the angel of the lord appeared to moses in a flame of fire out of the midst of the bush and he looked to behold the bush burned with fire and the bush was not consumed and moses said i will now turn aside and see this great sight why the bush is not burnt and then the lord saw that he turned aside to see and god called to him out of the midst of the bush and he said moses moses and he said here am i he said don't go you know don't go away he's basically saying you know come here but put off your shoes from your feet because the place that you're standing is holy ground holy grail god he is being commissioned at this point for for and toward his destiny he said i am i am the god of your father the god of abraham the god of isaac the god of jacob and moses hid his face for he was afraid to look upon god the lord said i have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in egypt and i have heard their cry we could there's a million teachings we could just keep doing it he hears the cry of his people always even when you think he doesn't know what's going on in your life he does even when you think you're crying out and nothing and no one is hearing you he hears you and he knows what's happening in your life and he knows their sorrows just like he knows your sorrows your concerns the things that affect you in your everyday life and i am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the egyptians and god delivers us out of the hands of our egyptians or whatever the circumstances are that we can get into and to bring them up out of that land to a good land and a large into a land flowing with milk and honey to the place of the canaanites and the hittites and the amorites and the perizzites and the hivites and the jebusites now therefore behold the cry of the children of israel has come to me and i have also seen the oppression where with the egyptians oppress them come now therefore and i will send you to pharaoh that you may bring forth my people the children of israel out of egypt god fully understands and fully sees where they are but god has a destiny for his people and we know from this point moses spends some time he spent time being prepared as this as the son of pharaoh's daughter and for the life he was living now he's going to spend some time being prepared to live the life that god created him for all right in acts chapter 7 verses 23 through 30 it tells us that moses was 40 years old at that point in time and he spends 40 years in midian moses assumed that the people would recognize his calling and he fled when they didn't just like sometimes we think everyone's going to recognize who we are some of us do some of us don't but if you feel upset because it doesn't seem like people recognize who you are and what you're called to that's not your concern if god recognizes who you are and what you're called to that's all that matters he will bring it to pass we've talked about this with david already that issue of okay if god said it it's he is going to bring it to pass okay um in galatians chapter 1 verses 15 through 19 we have the indicate we see the communication that paul spends three years in the desert in the wilderness out by himself here's paul filled with scripture okay filled with legalism filled with the law but with no heart fleshy heart with which to interpret that law now he spends time no spirit-led interpretation of what he has come to know now he's off with him and god and god begins to make clear paul has a profound understanding of the grace of god how did he get that not from pharisee school he got that in that time with god in that wilderness experience wherever it was that he was during that time out by himself getting an understanding of what scripture was really saying mix it with the holy spirit and you get a different picture of who god is and that's what paul needed and we see he spent time alone in that desert in the wilderness if you don't know the wilderness will not tell you and it will even challenge what you do know the vision that you can have things may seem closer or far away i will tell you it is very hard to judge distance out in the desert things could be further away than they appear or they could be closer than they appear because there's not much to judge against in the desert or in a wilderness experience especially if it's a flat desert how do you judge the distance it could look like there's no mile markers along the way for you to judge those things you know it's like sometimes when you in the rearview mirror of your car it says things may be further than they appear or closer than they appear because of the way the mirror is constructed to give you either more or less of a picture of what's going on next to you or behind you all right in the desert it's not always clear where things are in proximity to you okay so it's not going to tell you how close it is when will this come to pass i can't see it but i know it will all right a desire not pursued with passion will die why because if we don't feed it when we pursue our passions it feeds the life of it it feeds hope jesus super the joy that was set before him he kept his eyes on where he was going at all times and what he was here to do and that empowered him and fueled him to continue to do what he needed to do a true desire will remain when subjected to anything a true commitment to that desire will cause one to hold fast to it even in the face of any situation or adversity where you will not let go of the desire for the dream if you hold on to it never lose hope that things can change the backdrop may remain the same but you are the painter of the details we look at what we see and sometimes we are so very moved thinking this is it what i see right now is not it things change and if we just look at our lives look at how things change over time they get bad things can get very bad they can get very bad they can also get better and get very good all right so things change never let the dryness of the desert or the wilderness parch your dreams never let the dryness of the desert or the wilderness parch your dreams in genesis 12 1 the lord says to abraham again leave your country leave your people and your father's household and go to the land i will show you god tells abraham to leave behind all of the things that define him all of the things that tell him who he is what he has achieved what he's made of what people think of him all that he has produced he tells him leave it behind all this established thing that he has built family whatever leave it behind his general environment his cultural environment and his immediate most intimate environment this is all he has ever known and yet god says leave it behind why because sometimes we have to leave behind that which will compromise us in the future if i'm always looking to hold on to things i can never open my hands to bring in what is new if i don't let go of things i will never look to bring in things that are new if my hands are clutching white knuckle i can't go up the ladder got to be able to move on we've got to be able to move away from certain things not just dump everything in our lives i think you understand what i mean but there are things in our lives that we must leave behind in order to get to where we need to go abraham leaves all behind adventures out on a new path to a new location for a new purpose and he will begin a new definition of culture and family what his people will become will be most influenced by him who he is he is the leader he is the most stable and directive force in the situation and yet he's unsure himself of who he is we i think we can identify with that we're not always so sure of who we are whenever we're so sure and even if we move what appears to be bravely forward there are fears that we can have as i've said to you before in other classes courage is not the absence of fear it is not allowing fear to dictate how i respond all right so in genesis chapter 12 verses 2 and 3 it says god speaking saying i will make you into a great nation and i will bless you i will make your name great and you will be a blessing i will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you i will curse and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you well let's take a quick jump over to first samuel chapter 16. let's look at verses beginning at verse 11. and samuel said unto jesse here are all your children oh excuse me are here oh he's asking him are these all of your children because what has happened is samuel comes he says you know bring your sons out because god's spoken to samuel and they all come except david and so he's looking and he's like something's not right here he says are these all your sons um and then the father says well there's just one more the youngest he's out there keeping the sheep so samuel says to jesse well send for him bring him here and we'll wait we will not do anything else until he comes so he sends form and he brings him in so he's a ruddy and he now he was ready and with all of a beautiful countenance and goodly to look at and the lord said arise and anoint him because this is he who should be anointed king then samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brethren and the spirit of the lord came upon david from that day forward so samuel rose up and he goes so it tells us that from this day forward this is the first appearance of david in scripture and it talks to us about that anointing okay that he is anointed now we already know all that he goes through before he gets to be king and what he doesn't do and what he does do before he becomes king but he is anointed as a young man as king because god had that destiny for him in exodus chapter 33 18 through 23. exit is 33. again these these callings and these then going into situations that attempt to compromise or challenge what god has spoken so exodus chapter 33 beginning at verse 18. so when we have we have um well let me back it up verse 12. so moses says to the lord see you say unto me bring up this people and you have not let me know who who you'll send with me yet you have said i know you by name but and then i found grace in your sight now he wants to see god he says now therefore i pray if i have found grace in your sight show me now thy way that i may know thee that i might find grace in thy sight and consider that this nation is thy people and he says my presence will go with you and i will give you rest and he said unto him if your presence doesn't go with me then don't even start that i i just i love that this this little interaction here because he says to god if you're not going with me i'm not going at all and that devotion to god speaking to him but also pledging to himself don't go without god don't go without god never go without god for where shall it be known that i found grace in your sight if it is not and that you go with us so shall we be separated i am your people from all the people that are upon the face of the earth and the lord said to moses i will do this thing also that you have spoken i'll do this for you have found grace in my sight and i know you by name he knows us all by name he knows us all by name not just moses not just abraham not just david not just paul he knows our names so verse 18 he says so i beseech you show me your glory and he said i will make all of my goodness pass before you and i will proclaim the name of the lord before you want to stop here for a second he asks god to show him his glory and what does god say i'm going to show you my goodness moses is looking for something spectacular he thinks he needs to see the glory but god knows what he needs to say he needs to see the goodness of god that's what he needs he asks for what he thinks he needs but god will give him what he truly needs why do i say that because sometimes we ask for things from god or we look to god for things that we think we need but he knows what we need and he will always give us what we need trust him to do just that to give us what we need and so he says my goodness i will pass before you and i will proclaim the name and i will be gracious to whom i will be gracious and i will show mercy upon whom i will show mercy he says i can't show you my face because etc and you can read um that it's there for you to read he puts him in the cleft of the rock covers him over and then he says and i'll take my hand away and you'll see my back parts but my face you shall not see in luke chapter 22 the lord says to simon behold satan has desired to have you and to sift you as wheat all right sifting to separate what you want or need from debris see it separates what you want from what you need okay in our lives we will go through sifting processes moses wants the glory little sifting goes on god gives him his goodness that's what he really needed okay peter wants you know he thinks you know he's gonna get someplace but jesus lets him know hey there's gonna be some sifting going on here and satan would like you to fail but in that sifting we're going to isolate what is most important or useful in you see that's what these experiences will actually reveal what is most important and useful in the individual moses aaron nadab and abyhu and 70 leaders go up to meet god in the mountain god calls moses and joshua up closer to get the tablets in exodus 25-31 we have that that all depicted you can read that over god gives moses instruction and then moses returns to find the people have defiled themselves and moses gets upset breaks the tablets but then he goes back and god gives him the new tablets in the mountain we are ministered to or instructed in a clear fashion he's clearly told what to do you need to read over that that portion of scripture he's clearly told what to do and what's to go on such times are to carry us through those wilderness experiences where we're not continually being told what to do there's a yeah this is the right way yeah this is the right way keep going keep going you can do this keep going sometimes there is silence i remember somebody once saying during a test there's no talking there's silence okay and again we've talked about tests a test is to accurately assess where you're at what you've learned what's been invested in you and to put you in position for a promotion to the next level that's what it's for so um such times will carry us through the wilderness wilderness experience when we have to draw on what is within us in order to function remember we talked about jesus being led by what was within him we need to secure what is within us and we need to lean on what is within us when there's nothing around us that can confirm not only that can confirm but maybe actually telling us and contradicting what we believe about ourselves sometimes we have to be able to now there are some people that think everybody's wrong all the time and that they're always right okay i'm not talking about that but there are times when the feedback that we get from other people or our environment doesn't map to the word of god and what god has spoken to me and therefore i have to be able to say that's their problem i don't hate them i don't want to fight with them but i'm not going to allow what they say to contradict what god has said all right and that does i don't have to prove i don't have to prove anything to anyone as the spirit leads me and drives me in a sense through whatever it is that i'm doing or going through at a particular point in time i will emerge in the power of the spirit and then it will be apparent to me at the very least that god was with me the whole time remember something i don't we don't we are not to need that affirmation from people i know we like it and we all want it but i need affirmation from god that's the important affirmation that i need the wilderness will only provide the opportunity for what is within me to come out it will provide the situation in which nothing that is around me will help me but only what i have within myself will direct me and guide me no directions no compass no mag and yet i can be led through the wilderness through a situation because of the spirit of god within me if i could just trust him to do so because we get scared sometimes and we start to take things into our own hands let's look at this for moses to draw on his god-given gifts to lead his people to tap into the things that god had placed within him intentionally from the beginning lead god's people for korra you read cora's rebellion for cora was to reveal what was really in his heart rebellion there they are out crossing that wilderness and korra is inciting rebellion it will come out it will always remember you know you can look at circumstances and situations and think sometimes doesn't anybody see remember something god sees and he will always bring out the truth always you just we just have to trust him that he will and wait until the timing that he has set for it to happen that's the hard part we want it to happen on our timing for john the baptist it was to find connect with and release his voice the one crying in the wilderness the one speaking and preparing people for the coming of the messiah for paul it was to make real spiritual sense of all the scripture that he had spent so much time learning and trying to live and standing on and trying to enforce with people now he was going to make spiritual sense of it in this wilderness experience for jesus it was to free the power of the holy spirit within him and to establish once and for all who he was serving let's turn back to those temptations that were given the ones that were taught that were told from scripture so satan says turn this first of all the scripture verses are always a little bit off when satan quotes them all right he always got he's always got a little bit of something going on there so he says he tells him to turn the stone into bread why because he was hungry he'd been fasting this was a supernatural fast you don't live for 40 days in the desert his body was empowered by the spirit of god to continue living when the conditions said he should not the spirit of god can empower a body beyond its physical capabilities so the temptation to create your own provision i need to do i need to get i need this i need to take this job even though you really get in the sense from god that's not the right way to go he's saying i want you over here but that's less money it's not and that's not always the indication that it's god right that it's less money right but you understand what i'm saying sometimes we make decisions based on a provision or something that i will use my own skills and things and even gifts to attain when it is not what god wants me moving toward my god-given gifts and talents cannot become my source they always have to be submitted to that leading and driving of the holy spirit he so jesus does not succumb to that and what happens then the angels come and minister to him so god does send the provision super naturally to him he's on a supernatural fast filled with the spirit of god and then he is provided by super naturally god will do whatever it takes to provide for you when you are doing what he has asked you to do then he offers him the kingdoms of this world he says you know i'll give you the glory of these kingdoms and all authority over them says in the new living translation well the devil always offers you what god has already given to you just like he did for adam and eve he'll always come to you in in that he god establishes for you what he wants you to do to be and to have satan will come to you with strings attached and offer you what seems to be the same thing but those strings make it something very different those strings that he attaches to it make it very different if you will you know do this just as he came to jesus offering that fast track of what god had already set in motion and using his own ability to assist him in bringing it to pass he will do the same to us helping you fast track the other thing he'll try to do is he'll try to convince you that you didn't hear from god in the first place and that god will not do for you what you think he will he will try to convince you that it will never happen for any of the following reasons you didn't hear from god he cannot do that through you you're not good enough strong enough smart enough whatever enough he's the devil's going to try and tell you that he'll also try to tell you that god cannot do that now because you messed up things so bad that it's just too late none of those things are true so he's going to try to convince you that if you do this for him you'll have everything that god has promised you with no way fast fast and no way and that's not true or you're never going to get this anyway so you may as well either give up or come work with me so again the devil will offer you what god has already promised bring it back but we must do things in god's way and in submission to him remember david wouldn't kill saul even though he could have and listen in the day that david liv remember something they they did that all the time if someone wanted to ascend to the throne they would kill the king and then take over that was common practice in those days so if david had killed saul to take over that was common practice in the world at that time but that was not what god wanted and david would not do it and god brought him to where he promised him he would be so he offers him the kingdoms of the world that was what god had already given to jesus went on the other side of what was going to happen and the kingdoms of this world had become the kingdoms of our god and of his christ and he shall reign forever and ever we sing that with the hallelujah chorus every year at christmas time from handel's messiah but that's the truth god has already given it to him so the devil's saying well if you worship no you come to me and and you worship me i'll give all of this to you it already was his and he didn't have to worship satan god would give it to him but he's asking he's putting it out there to avoid what jesus actually knows is coming and that is the cross don't avoid what seems to be in front of you to gain what you think you might get take god's way and you will always get to where god wants you to be the third one jump from the pinnacle of the temple being saved by the angels in plain sight of everyone would have made him famous immediately the word would have gone out but that was not what he was to be known for he was to be known for his teaching and his ministry about the kingdom of god not for the spectacles that he created so in each of these temptations satan is trying to get jesus to compromise on what he already knows that god has provided for him provision for his everyday natural provision okay that the kingdoms of this world would become the kingdoms of him of his his kingdom okay and that he would be able to impact the then known world by what he was doing speaking introducing people to god not because of making himself famous but as he always said i speak with the father said to me i am here to glorify the father so all of this to say to you if you sense that you are in this experience where you can't touch what's around you where you're feeling like i don't understand what's going on reach back within yourself reaffirm what god has already spoken to you realign yourself with his plan and his purpose and follow that leading of the spirit follow that driving in that positive sense of the spirit of god to take you through the situation to the place that god wants you to be amen hope you got something out of this this actually is this is a this is a very important teaching for me it taught me so much in terms of being able to endure being able to persevere and to not be moved like we always say i'm not moved by what i see but to truly not be moved by what i see or what i don't say see sometimes it's not even just to not be moved by what we do see but the fact that we we ain't seeing anything can move us as well and cause people to abandon the path that they're on follow the spirit he's leading you he hasn't left you he didn't bring jesus to the edge of the wilderness and say hey listen sending you through i'll meet you on the other side hope you do well no he was with him every moment he was in him every moment just like he is in you and with you every moment of every situation that you encounter in your life he never leaves you he never forsakes you and his power is always in you to overcome we have to stop here um think about it think about what we talked about meditate on it and recognize that he will lead you to where we need to be god bless you and i will see you in the next class
