The "Spiritual Warfare Class 11" video presents a profound exploration of humility as a weapon in spiritual warfare. Through scriptural references and practical teachings, the class emphasizes the importance of recognizing one's position before God and the necessity of obedience. The contrast between humility and pride is clearly articulated, urging believers to cultivate humility to strengthen their spiritual walk and resist deception. As the class concludes, it sets the stage for further discussion on humility in the next session, inviting engagement and questions from participants.
hi and welcome to class 11 of spiritual warfare let's pray and get started with tonight's class father we thank you for your word we thank you that as we open our hearts and our minds to your holy spirit we will have an understanding of how to walk more perfectly in accordance with your will and your word we thank you for your holy spirit the great teacher and the empowerer of our lives that you have graced us to walk in accordance with everything that you desire of us as we open our hearts in our minds once again lord we thank you that we will be transformed by your word in jesus name amen amen all right so we already kind of talked about these little last couple of lessons um the wilderness experience as a part of our spiritual warfare because the battleground is in the mind in so many ways what we perceive um why because what did we talk about right in the beginning of the class the deception okay so the deception in the wilderness is you need to take control yourself or things are not what you think they are or even worse things are really not what god said they are it's not real this is not reality for you so you have to go another way you are lost or you are in the wrong place at the wrong time all of these things that come in a situation where you're looking for markers to tell you am i in the right place am i following god am i doing what you've asked me to do lord and i can remember pastor demoulas saying to us on so many occasions you just keep doing the last thing that you heard god say all right and i think that that's very true if he didn't tell you something different just keep on doing whatever was the last thing he told you you know it's it's like even raising your children you know make your bed every day or you're supposed to clean you're supposed to empty the dishwasher and then one day they just don't it's like well i didn't think i still had to do that hey when did we change the rules okay it's been this way you are always supposed to empty the dishwasher or you are always supposed to do whatever put your things away the rules don't change this is the way we live our lives okay but it gets challenging sometimes with the circumstances that can come your way that's why it is so important to be able to stop and go within to the voice of the spirit the still small voice that is within you to confirm that you're in the right place at the right time doing what he's asked you to do the way he's asked you to do it so we talked about how the wilderness or experiences challenge that and for us it's a matter of no i know where i'm supposed to be or i know what you said and i'm just gonna follow your word until you tell me something different i'm going to keep doing whatever you told me to do okay that's the significance there what we're talking about in this class is humility and this is and we're going to talk about just what humility is and see it operating in the life of jesus his greatest weapon nobody can get you the devil can't hook into you when you're walking in humility because humility is a godly attribute pride is a demonic attribute it is an attribute of the devil pride humility is not an attribute of the devil so if i am walking in humility i mean true humility i am never following after the flesh certainly and not certainly after the devil why do i say certainly about the flesh because the flesh isn't humble the flesh is always going to look to want itself up like corinthians tells us putting itself forward notice me see me think i'm important think i'm great affirm me affirm me in some way okay i'm better than you or you're beneath me those are things that come from the flesh humility is a an attribute that we see in jesus so if that's a strong attribute we see in jesus then it should be a strong attribute that we see in ourselves so let's take a look at what's at some aspects of this first of all we're going to define it so what is humility it's not proud or haughty you have this in your notes not arrogant or assertive reflecting expressing or offered in a spirit of deference or submission ranking low in the hierarchy or scale something that is beneath okay when we think of humility we think of someone who gives everyone else the credit except themselves for good things well that wasn't me no no no it was them no no no that's not necessarily humility sometimes that's false humility i want to seem humble because i want you to pay attention to me all right so humility is not just about giving other people credit we think of being humbled as being so beaten down by circumstances or a series of circumstances that you can't even think about getting up it's a defeated thing it's almost like you need to be humble you need to be punished in some way that theme of punishment always coming back around okay in religious thinking that we don't see in terms of what we we have projected from jesus in the new testament he's not talking about punishment he's talking about god so loved the world he's talking about what god did for us and what god wants for us he's talking about the punishment all right that's not that's not the key to all this we think of uh humility and being humbled as the retribution levied upon someone who let their pride get the best of them and offended someone else being humble or being humble is something much deeper and much more meaningful than any of that when we look at the definitions they always seem to focus more on what it is not than what it actually is humility should be recognized for what it is not what it isn't being humble while recognized or manifest in certain behaviors is a state of heart from which those behaviors come what kind of behaviors the kind of behaviors we see outlined in first corinthians the 13th chapter kindness long-suffering patience thinking the best of one another etc it is understanding who you are in relationship to god himself how much i need him how truly worthless i am without him to stop here because you cannot say that without them saying this how much i am worth to him okay those things like death and the resurrection on the cross death on the cross and resurrection from the grave you have to see the two of them together because if he only went to the cross and didn't raise nothing was accomplished okay so he died in rose same true here how worthless i am without him and yet how much i am worth to him how does he see me and that puts me see again when when pride comes into play it's usually looking for some kind of an affirmation or a stamp of approval i have that already he considers me so valuable he considered us so valuable that he died on the cross for us i think that's pretty significant when we come to this understanding again the cross the incarnation all the things that he's done for us we honor him the way he deserves to be honored both as almighty and abba it is important that we come to that place of a true appreciation for who he is and what he has done for us that's important um in okay let's let's take a look in exodus chapter 10 verses 1 through 4 and it says verse 1 and the lord said to moses go in unto pharaoh for i have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants that i might show these my signs before him now let's let's take a look at that for a second okay so pharaoh he says i have hardened his heart let me let me put something out there for you if you take ice and you take clay okay and you put them both in the hot sun one will melt and one will get harder all right the ice will melt and the clay will get harder same sun in both places but it is the material or what it is made of the substance that determines what will happen as a result of being exposed to the sun okay pharaoh had that pride in his heart so when god shows himself to pharaoh his presence is manifested pharaoh's heart hardens and you think god didn't know what of course he knew it would but god is about being god okay he is going to demonstrate who he is he is going to do what he has to for his people for the plan of salvation to bring this to pass over time important okay so pharaoh's heart was such that his response to the manifestation and the presence of the and the activity of god that it hardened his heart because you see say for example with daniel the king darius his heart was suffered when he saw what went on in the lion's den he sees daniel in a supernatural situation where the lions don't touch him he acknowledges god nebuchadnezzar prideful lifted up and then when he is brought to that place before god and humbled he acknowledges who god is okay so there are those in the old testament in other cases in these where there is a recognition of god based on what these individuals are exposed to pharaoh made a decision that that was not going to be the case here he hardened his heart his heart was hardened verse 2 that thou mayest tell in the ears of your son and your son's son what things i have wrought in egypt and my signs which i have done among them that you may know that i am the lord okay so what a sign signs are to demonstrate the power and the presence of god to demonstrate who he is okay so signs are to demonstrate who god is not who we are not what we're going to do or anything else signs demonstrate who god is verse 3 and moses and aaron came into pharaoh and said thus says the lord god of the hebrews how long will you refuse excluding refuse to humble yourself before me let my people go that they may serve me god speaking else if you refuse to let my people go behold tomorrow i will bring the locusts into your coast so this is a you know there's a there's an expression use the law of first mention you look at the first time something is mentioned in the bible and you see what the context of that mention is what it's mentioned in reference to how it kind of works this is the first time we have this word come up this is the first time we talk about humbled being humbled or humbling yourself all right now just um from one of my sources the word humble is a depression of spirit rather than a softening of the heart okay so to be humble is to a depression of spirit okay so i'm going to say that to you not not in a way that means um depress the person make them feel bad or to push them down but it is a recognition and a locating of self in reference to god all right just to be clear about that the act of lowering something or pressing something down is another definition for the word but in this case what we're talking about is that recognition of where we are in reference and position to god humble yourself before god means to acknowledge that he is higher and greater than i am so i am in a depressed position okay or a beneath a humbled position to say you are greater i acknowledge who you are before me okay that's important uh the first time the word humble is mentioned again in the bible is when god tells moses to speak to pharaoh in reference to how he relates to god pharaoh refuses to acknowledge who god was and is to him at that point in time because he saw himself as god as a god not needing to recognize god almighty capital g.o.d in that way all right the first step toward humility is to fully recognize my position in reference to god not about gifting not about ministry and not in relation to others because one of the issues that we have a problem with sometimes is we you know i say this often you know everybody wants to be equal as long as i'm a little more equal than everybody else all right we all kind of want to feel like you know we're king of that mountain or we're a little more important than other people or that we are important all right this has nothing to do with me and other people this has to do with me and god because if i see myself before god in the proper life then i'll be okay with people around me okay that means in every way his commands his opinions his assessments his viewpoints etc he is creator i am his creation he loves me with a love that i could never replicate unless he gave it to me to give it to him he has done that it's like parents giving children money to buy gifts for them for christmas or for birthdays or whatever because the children don't have the money so what do they do the parents give them money so that they can buy gifts getting them in the practice of what it means to give to each other make no mistake he is above or greater than me and you making no mistake about that i think that's something we are all pretty well settled with deuteronomy chapter 8 verses 1 through 10 every commandment which i command you today you must be careful to observe that you may live and multiply and go in and possess the land of which the lord swore to your fathers and you shall remember that the lord your god led you all the way these 40 years in the wilderness to humble you to test you to know what was in your heart whether you would keep his commandments or not remember something we talked about tests tests are not to punish nor are they to fail or to exclude a test is simply to assess or as it says here to know what was in your heart god provides an opportunity for you to sh for me and you to show what is in our hearts and then be promoted to the next level because that's what a test does a test says i've mastered all of this and now it's time for me to move on to the next level that's what a test does you'll be taking a test in this class which says now you can move on to the next level all right so um here it says clearly to see to know what is in your heart whether you keep his commandments or not being humbled puts one in the correct position to first see first of all to see and to know god as well as to be used by him and receive from him you have this in your definitions to test what to prove is to put to the proof or to the test purpose of a test is that is to validate to determine whether or not it is fit or able to perform what it was created to do or according to its purposes outlined to do a test verifies capability and confirms that what has been taught added invested is present and functioning according to prescriptions so in other words when you are tested in a class like this it is to see did you learn the material did i teach the material because if nobody does well on the test then that means i have not effectively taught the material does that make sense if if a perceived a large enough percentage of students in a class fails a test then one of two things is shown by that either the test was not designed properly or the teacher did not teach the information and the material correctly okay one or the other so if the teacher does everything right the students will learn now we know god does everything right so whatever comes and i say that not kind of tongue-in-cheek but also to say to you if you are in the middle of a test if there is something that you're encountering trust him you have been fully prepared for it and you are able to go through it just put your trust in him okay all right so that's important god has every right to test us on what he has taught us just as a teacher tests the students on what he or she teaches them i'm not testing you on what another teacher taught you i'm going to test you on what i taught you that's what i have a right to test you on all right i want to make sure a teacher wants to make sure that the students have not only grasped the information but can put it to use in the appropriate situations in practicums and in internships just ignore that noise something is going on inside roll them so god has the right to test through these avenues right so to prove more to us than anything else that we do have this and then we can know that not only can we overcome in this situation but in others that might be like it it is designed to assess and and again have it in your nose too many fail then the test either is inadequately designed or the teacher hasn't taught and again as i said to you god's tests are always perfectly designed for successful outcome to allow the believer to follow his spirit god's spirit his direction in every situation verse three so he humbled you allowed you to hunger not starve okay he allowed them to hunger and fed them with manna i'm going back to what it says which you did not know nor did your fathers know that he might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone but a man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the lord all right so you know it's interesting sometimes when without something for a time we appreciate it more when we get it back interesting right anyway verse 4 your garments will not wear out on you he says nor did your foot swell these 40 years you should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son so the lord your god chastens you now remember we have this tendency to look at everything that interferes with the what we think should be happening as a punishment or as something really negative the word chastise chastens here when we're talking about this scripturally is to discipline to instruct or to admonish it doesn't talk about punishment okay when we talk about discipline according to the roots of the words that are used in the scripture that is instruction it is education it is direction discipline to bring a person along in a certain way punishment doesn't teach okay punishment doesn't teach discipline instruction over and over again helps a person learn how to do something when you are taking lessons on a musical instrument you practice certain things over your scales over and over and over and over again any kind of skill athletics whatever it is you practice that skill over and over and over again in a disciplined fashion pushing other things aside and focusing on that so that you can perfect that skill so discipline again is it is instructional it's directional to let one be chastened or corrected or admonished to discipline to correct etc you have those definitions again not focus on punishment focus on instruction and direction the purpose of chastisement is to correct behaviors or actions that may be detrimental to the individual there is no need to chastise or correct when behaviors and actions are appropriate so if i'm headed in the right direction i'm not going to be concerned about chastisement or correction i don't again we don't like the idea of being corrected in any size shape or form so it's it's viewed negatively because we don't like to be told you can or cannot do this well you you know whatever but the point of the chastisement is to put you on a trap that will benefit you put you back on that track excuse me that will benefit you not to punish you verse 6 wherefore you shall keep the commandments of the lord your god and walk in his ways and to fear him for the lord your god is bringing you into a good land a land of brooks of water of fountains and springs that flow out of valleys and hills a land of wheat and barley of vines and fig trees and pomegranates a land of olive oil and honey a land which you will a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity in which you will lack nothing a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper when you have eaten in our full then you shall bless the lord your god for the good land which he has given you beware that you do not forget the lord your god by not keeping his commandments his judgments and his statutes which i command you this day lest when you have eaten and are full and have built beautiful houses to dwell in them and when your herds and your flocks multiply and your silver and your gold are multiplied and all that you have is multiplied when your heart is lifted up you forget the lord your god who brought you out of the land of egypt from the house of binders see god is disciplining us directing us instructing us and teaching us so that when he blesses us and brings us into the place that he desires us to be we can hold fast on the path he wants us to be on not being turned to the right or to the left to follow after riches or glory or affirmation or fame and fortune but to stay on the path and remember that the lord brought us out of darkness out of egypt and into the light and into out of bondage into freedom okay the same as with them the same as with us he wants us to be instructed just like he wanted them to be instructed to learn that god he was with them he would provide for them so that they would always keep the right perspective of their position to him so that it would not compromise them in the long run okay the heart suggested here when it talks about one who would then go off in pride and think and forget the lord that heart did not start in the right place god wants to ensure that we are in the right place at all times when the heart is lifted up in pride one forgets maybe even ignores or ceases to care about what god was doing and requires us and wants for us the fact is that it is actually him working through us to achieve these things we have to remember that it is not us again not getting into false humility but understanding that what i am and where i am is has all to do with where he has brought me and what he has done in me whatever good things i have i got from him and however great they're working in me right now that's because of him but i get to enjoy it while i'm doing it okay when we forget him we begin to act like it's us doing us and yeah maybe god's helping me no he's working through me there is a sense that some credit or favor is deserved because we have this very special gift that everyone else should make room for we can never get to that place see that's what happens pride begins to come up and i begin to take if i do that and begin to take credit for what god is doing in my life he gets all the credit and i get all the benefits he gets the credit and yet i get benefits from being obedient to him when we think of ourselves more highly than we are we're always going to be disappointed because nobody else is going to think of us as highly as we do okay we need to make sure that we see ourselves in the correct light before god more about other people stick with where you stand before god this generally will put us at odds with others which is viewed by us as jealousy or misunderstanding i i can't tell you how many times i've seen that happen where people because they feel that they're gifted or that they have this specialness about them if other people don't recognize that they they'll immediately call it jealousy it's not jealousy maybe they just don't think maybe they just don't see what you think is there that's not jealousy and maybe it's not quite what you think it is either anyway i'm sure that's never you but i think we need to be honest with ourselves and recognize that sometimes we get a little carried away with ourselves read your resume sometime okay we look at our resumes and i don't even believe my resume so i think we all need to be able to assess ourselves accurately just so you know and i want to be clear about this when we talk about humble okay when we talk about humbling ourselves before god that is an accurate assessment of myself before god not not a denigrating of myself before god or a putting down of myself before god i don't have to that's not necessary god doesn't need me to put myself down in front of him oh i don't deserve you oh i'm a weak worm of the dust he doesn't need that from me god knows who he is oh i'm nothing compared to you god he already knows that doesn't need me to say it what he needs me to do is to assume my position before him so that he can use me the way he wants to the way he wants to okay all right um all right verse 15 who led you through the great terrible wilderness in which there were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water who brought water for you out of a flinty rock who fed you in the wilderness with manna which your fathers did not know that he might humble you and that he might test you to do you good in the end for what was that again to do you good remember he is always looking to do you good in the end say that again he is looking to do you good in the end everything that god is working in your life right now regardless of how it looks is to do you good in the end trust him to do that um you could read that definition for proof again that that testing improving i think that we've covered that um well enough already verse 17 then you say in your heart my power and the might of my hand has gained me this wealth woe and you will shall remember the lord your god for it is he who gives you the power to get well that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your father he keeps his word he swore to your fathers as it is this day so in other words we should never say in our heart it is the power and the might of my hand that has given me this i always go back and recognize and remember the lord my god because the reason why he is going to what give me the power to get well is that he will what does it say here establish his covenant he is looking to establish his covenant to prove his covenant to make clear his covenant to prove out his covenant to demonstrate his covenant by this okay he gives us the power to get wealth now this word wealth you see the definition there strength might efficiency wealth ability etc so there's it's not just talking about having a lot of change in your pocket all right there are other things that go along with it um other resources army wealth virtue valor strength wealth here conveys more than just money and includes virtue all right and you have a definition there for what virtue is so virtue is that uh that morality is a standard of what is right so he he establishes that as a part of his covenant that standard of right okay that virtue is a uh a morality in us and a strength and a power to live there by okay um moral excellence i can be morally excellent because i have the power of god in me to live so but that's a part of his covenant living it living a life that is operating in the covenant of god will display moral excellence virtue power virtuous power when jesus when the woman touches the garment of jesus he says i felt virtue go out of me i felt that power go out of me he was so excellent morally excellent that the power could flow through him when there is a purity the power can flow through it's unobstructed there's no break in the lines okay or in the connections all right so it flows through if you have pipes in your house and there's an obstruction do you ever get a drain clog whoa hope you never have to deal with that when that drain backs up some nasty stuff can come out but when it's clear and free everything just flows in the direction that it needs to flow no obstruction virtue pure clean so that the power of god can flow through unobstructed and trustworthy because it'll go to the place it's supposed to go to and be done the way it's supposed to be done because it's god directed um we see power in the new testament dunamis is translated as virtue here in uh as i said to you a minute ago in uh mark 5 30 and luke 8 46 and luke 6 19 in reference to dynamic power that comes from jesus to heal that dunamis that dynamic power pure power that accomplishes what needs to be accomplished at that point in time i thought we were talking about humility yeah but this is how the power can operate because in humility in that purity in that place unobstructed the power can flow to the right place in a trustworthy way god can trust us with his power he can trust us with his power and there's that definition there for dunamis moral power and excellence of soul excellence of soul uh moral power over immoral sickness sickness is immoral it doesn't come from god so that dunamis power has power over sickness because it's pure and drives out anything that is impure verse 19 then it shall be said if you by any means forget the lord your god and follow other gods and serve them and worship them i testify against you this day that you shall surely perish as the nations which the lord destroyed before you so you shall perish because you would not be obedient to the voice of the lord your god when we exalt ourselves it is pride that energizes the left when we humble ourselves it is the spirit of god that energizes the lift with his own dunamis power pride will puff up and it will appear as a lifting up but in the end it is not it is a false lifting up humility we humble ourselves before the lord and that he will lift us up talking about being obedient um attention to or obedience to cause the causality of okay so uh in romans 1 1 paul a servant of jesus christ called to be an apostle separated unto the gospel of god paul calls himself a servant a slave a bondman a man of servile condition you have your definition there one who gives himself i'd like this i've met up with this this definition here metaphorically it means one who gives himself up to the will of another makes a decision that rather than be and this happened back in jesus day where a slave would say would be offered his freedom and would say rather than be free i will stay and serve my master and usually they would put an all through his ear and that was that was a designation of such a person but that was by decision not that they made themselves that someone else did not make for them they were not taken they give themselves into that position okay so this servant um he calls himself a servant and he says that he is separated onto the gospel uh your definition there to mark off by boundaries to limit or to separate okay so there's a boundaries there there's a marking he is separated and we talk we've talked about this in this class and others out of and into there's no middle ground separated toward the things of god all right uh philippians 2 1-11 if there be in there for any consolation in christ if any comfort of love if any fellowship of the spirit if any bowels and mercies fulfill you my joy that you be like-minded having the same love being of one accord of one mind let nothing be done through strife or vain glory but in lowliness of mine there's that kind of positioning of self before god let each esteem other better than themselves to be able that's a tough one because we're all looking to be esteemed for the most part but this is to say no i defer to you what can i do for you to put to then not just i think it's easier for us to say yes lord i put you before me now he's asking us to put others before ourselves as well and to say i will defer to you ouch that's something we don't always want to do lowliness of mind to have a humble opinion of oneself a deep sense of one's moral littleness it is modesty humility lowliness of mind we sometimes turn from facing god and seemingly accept our position before him only to look to stand above others not what he had in mind we accept being lower than him but that's it which means we really haven't humbled ourselves at all beforehand first four i'm sure you've never done that but when we look to put ourselves above others i have to think about it this way if christ is in you how can i put you beneath me if christ is in you how can i put you beneath me i can't okay verse 4 look not every man on his own things but every man also on the things of others verse 5 let this mind be in you which was also in christ jesus think this way in your heart which was also in christ jesus what does the bible tell us what's what is that casting down main imaginations those things about other people judgment judgmental thoughts doubts about god's word about what he's promised me i have to push those aside cast those things down and let this mind be in me that was also in christ jesus in the niv it says your attitude be it should be the same as that of christ jesus we must have an understanding of what this mind is that is the mind of christ what is on the mind of christ what is i'm going to say it this way christ messiah messianic thinking what is on his mind all the time souls reconciliation of people to him um to be mentally disposed to the same things he's mentally disposed to the things that are on his mind the things that his affections are set on the things that he cares about the things that he feels are important okay um more definitions here that you can look at mind be directing one's mind to a thing to seek to strive for directing one's mind to toward the things that he thinks are important his interests his advantage etc okay let this mind be in you resting and established resting not a sometimes thing and always thing not even just a church thing let this mind be in you always okay rest and continuous let this mind rest and continue in you let this mind emanate from within you again when we speak of christ we think we speak of the anointed one let that mind be in you who being in the form of god thought it not robbery to be equal with god okay the word robbery is to be we can go all around but what is being conveyed here is for jesus to think himself equal with god was not taking something that didn't belong to him it did belong to him he was god when he walked on the earth he never gave that up he was is god okay so for him it was not robbery to call himself equal with god he it was his to take because he was is god now we'll move to further insight into how he thought this is vitally important as having the mind of christ requires knowing how he thinks which is not natural for us the only way to think with the mind of christ is to understand what is on his mind he made himself what so here he is equal with god and yet he makes himself of no reputation takes upon himself the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men emptied himself took a position lower than who he should than who he was took that on emptied himself and took on the form of man the likeness of man a little lower than the angels that scripture says he took on that likeness he made himself of no reputation he humbled himself while humbling oneself is uncomfortable in the flesh being humbled will feel humiliating as it feels painful the result of humbling oneself is found in what jesus did he humbled himself and then what do we see in verse 9 wherefore god also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name he has highly exalted him that of the name of jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth so here he is he humbles himself meg takes upon him a human body refrains from using his godly attributes and god highly exalts him because that is what god is looking for someone who will put themselves in the position to do as god would ask what did jesus say throughout in the book of john in the chapters 13 14 15 16 around there i speak to you what the father has spoken to me what you see when you see me you see the father when i speak i heard from the father what i do i was told by the father everything connects him back if you've seen me you've seen the father okay everything connects back him and the father him and the father him and the father for this god highly exalted what does he say even in the garden if there's any way else we can do this take this cup from me but not my will your will be done however you say this should go i will do it one who gives up their will to the service or direction of another jesus did that he put himself in a position to do exactly what the father asked him to do for us for us he didn't come down here to prove who he was he didn't come down here flatten the curve or to kick satan off the face of the earth he came here for us to open that door for us he humbled himself he didn't need it we did verse 11. so first i'm sorry back at verse um me do verse 9 again wherefore god has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name that of the name of jesus every knee should bow with things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth and that every tongue should confess that jesus christ is lord to the glory of god the father when humble or humble there is no longer a sense of what is deserved or owed there is true bankruptcy of self exhausted emptied when bankrupt there is truly nothing left no reserve no sense of what is deserved positive or negative no expectation to be lifted up or to be put down no expectation for retaliation or for abuse no expectation to be included or excluded simply no expectation the life of humility is the life on standby what is the next commandment of god for my life what is the next thing he would have me do to be like the slave described by described by paul swallowed up in the will of one's master so that my thoughts are his thoughts if you want to know my opinion i'll ask god for it he'll tell me this is not necessarily achieved through a series of humiliating circumstances humiliation attempts to reduce to a lower position in one's own eyes or others eyes this refers to external assessment not to the inward state of the individual when humble i am void of a sense of self and must seek identity in someone or something else what i may need to make the right decision about is where i seek my sense of identity who is my source of identity who is the one that gives me a sense of who i am now we're at a time today and i'm going to have to stop here and we'll pick it up in the last class it will probably be a short one we'll just wrap this up on humility but what i will say to you is if you have any questions or anything please make sure that you email them to us because at the end of the class or when you're finished you're also going to be taking your quiz if there's anything that you don't understand please make sure that you let me know okay god bless you and we'll see you in the next class
