besides looting the shop, the angry masses also committed criminal acts, one of which was the rape of Chinese women Hi, peace be upon you, warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Thank you for clicking this video, Okay W, tonight I will return to tell a dark story that happened to a girl of Chinese descent named Ita Martha Dinatawa, have you ever heard of this name, wa, this name is Ita Marth Dinata, do you know who she is? H, maybe some of you know, but there are also those who don't know, so wa, Ita Martaadata, this is a victim of sexual harassment during the May 1998 riots, but even so, Ita managed to survive W and tried to get up to demand justice for the tragic event, but unfortunately, before she got justice, Wa, again there was a sadistic event that happened to her for the second time, and I deliberately brought this story now before everything was banned by the broadcasting bill, right, heeh, everything was banned. If it's clear, I reject the broadcasting bill, waak, but okay, let's just pray that it won't be passed, right? But this is wa before I get into the story I want to disclaim first that all the information that I convey in this video I summarize from various articles and journals So if for example there is some information that is missed or for example not quite right you can correct and add it in the comments column below Wak yes Now without further ado let's just go into the story check it out Okay W before going into the events that befell Ita Marta Dinata first I want to discuss the New Order era first yes because indeed the New Order government cannot be separated from the tragic events that befell Ita so Wa if we go back to exactly on March 12, 1967 the Provisional People's Consultative Assembly or MPRS issued a decree containing the dismissal of Bung Karno as president and as a replacement They also appointed Ma Jen Soeharto who had previously served as the TNI commander in the field of restoring security and order to become the second president of Indonesia to replace Bung Karno well the appointment of this General Soeharto W marked the beginning of the new order regime and the end of the old order regime yes Well after Pak Harto officially occupied the presidential seat wa the people really hoped that Indonesia will be better than before and evwa Ewa before that was indeed Indonesia Why Nad he Indonesia experienced hyperinflation where the price of basic necessities in Indonesia at that time Wak increased drastically to reach 600%. That's why when there was a change of president, the Indonesian people really hoped for a change for the better and it turned out that hope really came true, wow, because in the early days of his leadership, President Soeharto succeeded in making very positive changes in various fields, firstly, changes in the social field, wow, at that time, President Soeharto succeeded in reducing the crime rate in Indonesia so that our people could live in peace, at that time there were very few robberies, murders, muggings or other crimes, this society tended to be more orderly and obey the applicable legal rules, that's the first. Then, secondly, the political situation also became more stable because Pak Harto limited the number of political parties in Indonesia, if in the old order era there were around 30 parties, wow, at the beginning of the New Order government, there were only 10 parties, then in 1973, from 10 parties, it was reduced again to only three parties remaining, the Golkar Party, PDIP, and P3, this party simplification was carried out with two goals, firstly to reduce conflict in the political field and secondly to make the government easier That's in building the country's economy, right? Well, that's the second, then the third, these three positive changes in the infrastructure sector, the New Order government succeeded in bringing about massive changes in the development sector, where at that time President Soeharto initiated the construction of various public facilities such as schools, health centers, toll roads, and also tall buildings for offices, so the development at that time was so massive that President Soeharto was even given the nickname as the Father of Indonesian Development, you know. Then the fourth rapid progress in the economic sector at that time, President Soeharto succeeded in controlling the problem of hyperinflation that had occurred since the old order, where previously inflation reached 600% during the New Order, this inflation began to fall, wow, until it touched 9%, how many times was it reduced, right? And besides successfully handling the inflation problem, President Soeharto also succeeded in stabilizing the Indonesian economy, right? Those are some of the positive sides, but in life there are always positives and also negatives, right? Wow, behind all the positive changes, there are also some shortcomings or negative sides that happened during the period New Order Now it's my turn to mention the negative side, Wak, the negative side or the negative side, firstly, the people at that time felt that there was injustice, Wak, in the political field because they were prohibited from participating in government affairs, positions in government seats were only dominated by rich people and also influential people and this condition was also known as KKN, corruption, collusion and nepotism, that's the first. Then secondly, the people also felt that the New Order government was committing human rights violations, especially with the Petrus operation, that's the mysterious shootings, as I said earlier, Wak. During the New Order, the crime rate in society had dropped drastically, right? Well, it turns out that this was inseparable from the government's efforts, namely shooting dead people who looked like thugs, Wak, for example, people who had tattoos, piercings, scars, for example, on their bodies, right? Well, people with these characteristics are usually indicated as perpetrators of crimes such as theft, mugging, robbery, and other crimes, Wak, but on the other hand, Wak, Yes, some Indonesian society apparently did not agree with the operation because it was considered inhumane, right? They should be punished according to the applicable rules, right? Not just killed, not necessarily all of them are evil, right? That's the thinking of the WA society and By the way, I also discussed this Petrus, if for example you don't know in the previous video, you can just watch the end of this video, okay? Well, that's the second one. Then, continuing to the third side, waak, press freedom during the New Order era was very limited, as you already know, the people and also the media on that scale could not criticize the government openly, you know, the same thing as what would happen soon if for example it was passed seriously first, yes, if for example they dared to protest the policies carried out by the government, Wak, usually they would be arrested and also imprisoned, basically, authoritarian, right? Wa Then the fourth wa, the New Order government was indicated to be discriminatory against ethnic Chinese, so at that time, ethnic Chinese were prohibited from speaking, Wak, using their native language, namely Mandarin, was not allowed, and instead they were required to use Indonesian in their daily lives, and besides that, wa, ethnic Chinese were also required to replace their names with Indonesian names for example, for example, their original name is Ong tionghgham like that, right? Then later it has to be changed to oh Hartono like that. Basically, there must be an Indonesian element in their names. Wak, that 's not enough, the government also differentiates ethnic Chinese ID cards from indigenous ID cards. According to the sources we read, Wak, ethnic Chinese ID cards are usually given a special code, like the code a01, which indicates that they are considered immigrants and not native Indonesians, and this distinction turns out to have a very fatal impact, Wak, because this is where anti-Chinese sentiment began to emerge among the indigenous people, or to put it simply, the indigenous people at that time harbored seeds of hatred towards the ethnic Chinese and day by day that hatred also grew even bigger, Wak, because the ethnic Chinese Wani were considered more economically established compared to the indigenous people, so here the ethnic Chinese Hani were discriminated against by two parties at once, you know, by the government and the indigenous people at that time, but here, even though there were many negative things that happened during the New Order government, the Indonesian people, especially the ethnic Chinese, couldn't do much. because they don't have the power to fight the government, they just criticize them and they are arrested until finally in May 1998 there was a big riot where the Indonesian people flocked to demand that President Soeharto resign from his position, this event was later known as the May 98 riots and became the forerunner to the tragic actions that befell the Chinese ethnic group, especially Ita Marth Dinata, so in this video, besides explaining about Eh Ibu Ita Marthadata, I also got a bit of a row about the May '98 riots, because many of you want me to discuss the '98 riots, here, let's explain to all of you, okay? So, Wak, the May 98 riots didn't just happen, of course, this riot Wak started from the monetary crisis that hit Indonesia since July 1997, at that time the Rupiah exchange rate against the dollar weakened drastically, waak, weakened drastically from the original Rp. 2,380 to how much 1616,000 Rp. 16,305 per dollar, in other words, what is the Rupiah exchange rate? really weakened by 800% wa nah the decline in the rupiah exchange rate had a big impact on the people's economy and the first to be affected by this inflation were large companies where at that time there were 70% of companies in Indonesia that went bankrupt and were forced to lay off all their employees wa as a result within a few months Wa there were around 20 million people became unemployed Well because the number of unemployed people is increasing the people's economy is also affected right at this point Wak they can no longer afford to buy basic necessities because the prices are getting higher and worse the government at that time aak yes did not succeed in handling this monetary crisis so that made people angry we can't live with conditions like this Ladies and gentlemen we already exist we need change we need to change the president they said well driven by that thought in early 1998 the Indonesian people flocked to protest and demanded President Soeharto to resign from his position well what's interesting here Wow the protest action did not happen in just one or two places but happened in succession in several cities at once such as in Solo in Jogja Medan Palembang and also Jakarta of course on May 12th 1998 there were around 6,000 students gathered at Trisakti University and planned their protest action at the MPR DPR Building in Jakarta initially everything went smoothly they came fine L like that W but when they had just arrived in front of the West Jakarta Mayor's office waak they were blocked by thousands of joint officers consisting of police and also TNI well that blockage made the students not demonstrate at the MPR DPR Building as they had planned but instead Wak they closed the main roads in Jakarta and held a demonstration there Although the action did not go according to plan because their plan was in front of the MPR DPR Building the group of students still demonstrated peacefully W and when the time showed 55 pm this group of students moved back to Trisakti University where they started earlier god But here in the middle of the journey when they were about to go back suddenly there was W an officer who mocked the group of students with dirty words he said I don't know what kind of mockery waak But what is clear is that that immediately sparked the emotions of the students quickly the situation that was originally peaceful wak changed immediately became heated and in a matter of seconds wak there was a physical clash between students and the authorities it started to get chaotic here right wak then because the number of students at that time was a lot the authorities also felt overwhelmed there Well this is where Wak they started firing tear gas to disperse the students and also stop the riot but instead of dispersing wa the tear gas shots actually made the situation disgusting out of control wa these angry students immediately attacked back at the authorities Ah in the midst of the clash the authorities shot again But this time using pistols not tears anymore Wa and it turned out that the shots hit and killed four Trisakti students and there were victims right now right now the casualties from the students immediately rekindled the anger of the wider community they thought that the government and authorities had acted repressively or violated human rights it's not right no This is the government and its lackeys Even though we only wanted to convey our aspirations right But why were we killed like that Well, driven by that anger, the next day, May 3-12, 1998, there was another demonstration followed by various groups of people, so here it wasn't just students who were demonstrating, the community also took part and besides that, Wak, it was said that there were also irresponsible individuals who infiltrated the ranks of the masses who were demonstrating, well, these individuals were suspected of being provocateurs, that's what made the demonstration even crazier, Wak, at this point, Wak, the angry masses were already at the stage of destroying public facilities such as police posts, they destroyed bus stops, mall buildings, and also vehicles that passed by were destroyed by them all, and besides doing the destruction, Wak, here the angry masses also looted and also destroyed shops owned by ethnic Chinese. Why were the Chinese who were destroyed by them like I said earlier? Wa, this society has indeed been harboring the seeds of hatred for a long time, you know, towards ethnic Chinese, that's because of their different economic status, God, and after the monetary crisis, the hatred became even bigger, how come you guys are having a hard time? Hit by a crisis like this but why do you still live in abundance, don't accept them, this is the thinking that ultimately made the Chinese ethnic group also become the target of mass anger, Wak, apart from looting shops, the angry masses also committed criminal acts, one of which was the rape of Chinese women, well, one of the victims of this heinous act is the person we will discuss tonight, namely Ita Marta Dinata, now let's get into the story of Ita Dinata, yes, and before I discuss the tragedy that befell Ita, I want to explain a little about the background of Ita Marthta Dinata, yes, so Ita Marthta Dinata is a teenager of Chinese descent who at that time was only 18 years old and attended Pascal High School, grade 3, majoring in social studies, well, Ita's father is a furniture entrepreneur, Wak, named Leo Haryono, while her mother is named Wiwin Haryono, who is a member of a community engaged in human rights, Ita and her family lived in a Chinese village in the Sumur Batu area in East Jakarta, initially, Ita's life was going well Wow, until finally one afternoon, this is it, in May 1998, there was a large-scale protest in Jakarta, a group of protesting people suddenly came to Ita's housing complex, which was also a change, eh, Chinese housing, they came there to vent their anger, well, Ita's house did not escape the target of the anger of the crowd, they broke down Ita's house door and then entered it, when they got inside, they cruelly carried out a cruel act, namely raping Ita, who at that time was indeed at home, but fortunately, this incident did not take Ita's life, because there are many victims of rape, after being raped, they were immediately killed, but Ita didn't, she still managed to survive, even though she suffered physical injuries and also severe trauma, of course, even though she was very disadvantaged by the incident, Ita at that time did not dare to do much, she chose to remain silent because she was worried that the mob would act even more cruelly, okay? I'd rather keep quiet than later something happens to me, well, that thought happened Not without reason Wak, you know yourself, at that time, this anti-Chinese sentiment was still very much embedded in society, right? In the end, it chose to keep quiet Even though she had been cursed, but W, that worry slowly began to disappear when there was an activist named Ita Fatia Nadya, her name is also Ita, in front of her, Ita Fatia's mother came to Ita and also other Chinese women who were victims of the rape, there, Mrs. Fatiah gave support and also encouraged these victims to report the case to the Indonesian government, wow, you guys shouldn't just keep quiet, this is a big case, you have to speak up so that the government is also responsible, no need, ma'am, it's better for us to keep quiet, because we're afraid something will happen, you guys don't have to be afraid, there's a mother who will help you, and it turns out that Mrs. Fatiah is really Not playing around with her words, she and several other women activists have repeatedly reported to the government about this tragic incident Wa But unfortunately, their journey has encountered a steep road because indeed some government officials actually doubted their reports Ah, is it really like that? Hook, maybe it's like that, but even though the report was ignored, Mrs. Fatiah and also the other activists, eh, never gave up. They continued to voice this rape case until finally several foreign media were interested in covering their case. The peak was one day when the UN council was interested in inviting Chinese women who were victims of rape to testify at the UN session which would be held in New York and who knows what the details were at that time, but finally it was decided that there would be six people who would go and represent the victims in Indonesia to testify at the UN session. Wow, and two of the six people were Ita Martaadata and her mother, Wiwin Haryono, who were told to go to give testimony, right? But unfortunately, before the session took place, there was another tragic event that befell Ita for the second time. So the story was that it was Friday, October 9, 1998. Ita and her family woke up in the morning as usual, her father and mother went to work, while Ita decided not to go to school because she was busy preparing her needs before she testified at the UN session later, so on the day Ita was alone at home at first everything was going normally Wak until finally around 00 pm on the same day Mr. Leo, Ita's father, saw something odd in his house So when he just came home from work, Waak, he looked at the window of their house which was badly damaged as if he had broken it by someone else Eh, what's wrong, maybe my house is being visited again, so he quickly opened the door to confirm his suspicions, well, when he entered the house, Waak, Mr. Leo saw that there was nothing odd in the house, his house was in a neat condition because nothing happened, right, only the window was damaged Well, even so, for some reason, Mr. Leo already felt that something was wrong, he immediately called his son, he knew his son was at home, right Ita, Ita, Where are you, son, are you okay, right son, but the call was not answered at all by Ita, Waak, worried that something had happened, Mr. Leo immediately went up to Ita's room which was on the second floor Well, when he had just opened the door, that's where Mr. Leo was saw that Ita had died in a very terrible condition Ita died covered in blood with several stab wounds on her body and Not only that, Mr. Leo also oh my God Mr. Leo also witnessed that his child's neck was badly injured to the point of almost being severed by a knife cut and besides that there was a wooden stick stuck in his vital part there was W Astagfirullahalazim Oh my God there is oh my God like Manal Pak Le's feelings at that time, right, but after finding his child dead, Mr. Leo did not immediately report it to the police, right, But he immediately called another female activist named Lily Zakiah to ask for help, asked for help from Mrs. Lilini, then not long after Mrs. Lilini immediately came straight to Ita's house together with Mrs. Fatia, Mrs. Fatiah Nadia, you know, the activist who supported them earlier. Well, when they got there, they both immediately went up to Ita's room and checked the condition of her body and after seeing her body, they immediately thought this was clearly a murder, there must be certain individuals who deliberately targeted her to be killed and to prove that suspicion, they immediately reported the case to the police station they both asked the police in order to thoroughly investigate Ita's death and also catch the perpetrator wa and who knows how the details of the investigation are, we don't have it, but what is clear is that not long after that, the police suddenly announced that they had caught the perpetrator behind Ita's death, the perpetrator was a 22-year-old man named Suyadi alias Otong alias Bram, well, Suyadi is Ita Wa's neighbor who is a drug addict at that time, he killed Ita because he was afraid of being caught when he was stealing at Ita's house, so according to the police's statement, Wak, the chronology of the incident was more or less like this, one afternoon, Suyadi sneaked into Ita's house with the aim of stealing her valuables, but before he managed to take the items, Ita suddenly looked at where he was, she immediately shouted thief, Ita said, hearing the scream, Suyadi panicked, right? He immediately chased Ita to the second floor to her room, and because he was afraid that Ita's scream would make his actions known, Suyadi immediately took a knife and stabbed her blindly but apparently the stabbing was not successful in killing the old Ita when he looked at Ita she was still breathing, he said, even though she was covered in blood. Well, seeing Ita who was still breathing, that's when he took the knife again and cut Ita's neck until Ika Ita really died and what was even worse was that after Ita died, Suyadi was said to have the heart to rape Ita's body and after he was satisfied with the cruel act, he immediately left Ita's house. That's what the police said at that time, but on the other hand, some people, especially activists, didn't believe the police's statement. Why? Because the investigation process until they were finally able to conclude the chronology was not carried out openly, suddenly they got A, the suspect was announced, this is the suspect, yeah, the investigation process was unclear, what was it like Ha and besides that, they also started thinking, how could there be a robber who had the heart to kill a victim who was lost there just because he was afraid of being caught, he did that, it would definitely take time, right? W, for example, was caught, I'm sorry if that really happened, he was hit once She ran away. How come it was like that? It wasn't just killed. Wak. She was also harassed by the perpetrator. Is this really a robbery or not? It seems like there's something strange here, they said. At the same time, these activists also realized that Ita died before she could testify about the mass rape of Chinese women. Well, this is where the speculation began that Ita's death had something to do with the planned testimony. There were probably parties who didn't like Ita telling the dark story internationally, so these parties deliberately killed Ita to silence her voice. Wak. I don't know which suspicion is correct, Wak, but what is clear is that Ita Martadinata's death made the victims who previously wanted to demand justice give up all their intentions. W according to Mrs. Fatiawa's statement, these victims were afraid to voice the tragic incident again because they were worried about being killed in a sadistic manner like what happened to Ita Marta Dinata. Because of that concern, the search team only recorded 152 surveillance reports from the May 98 riots. fact even though the reality could be more than 152 people but unfortunately their choice they prefer to close the memory of the Klam tightly and not report to anyone until today Astagfirullah I can only take a deep breath okay Wak so that was the tragic story that befell a woman of Chinese descent named Ita marthta Dinata sometimes when discussing history we feel sad too W yes because it turns out not all historical stories are beautiful stories are beautiful stories to tell like that there are also dark stories that are heartbreaking like what happened to Ita martarinatawa but regardless of the cause of her death may Marta Dinata be accepted by the side of God Almighty and all her family are given sincerity and fortitude as wide as possible and In addition we also hope that in the future there will be no more cases of discrimination or cases of ethnic violence like this again Beb aja all of us waak whatever your tribe and ethnicity we are all brothers and sisters one Indonesia we are before I close the video I want to ask you do you believe the statement of the police that Ita died because she was robbed or are you on the side that believes more that there are parties who deliberately killed Ita to silence her voice and of course if for example there is information that I did not mention and maybe there is something wrong that I convey here you can add all the information and can also correct everything in the comments column below Wak yes okay Wak so That's all for the video Thank you very much for watching if you like this video click like don't forget to comment below UN and suggestions for the next don't forget to turn on the notification so you know when I upload a new video and Don't forget to Click the subscribe button So what Hah Don't forget to turn on the notification so you know when I upload a new video and don't forget to Click the subscribe button so you both know interesting and exciting information from my channel See you next video bye bye someone called J did you hear it later try playing it yes is there or not don't forget to Click the subscribe button So what ha someone called me like that it's impossible for people people don't call me Nat right sis sis
